Sec Tower: Can you move the Resistance spawn forward after the ramp?

(Overgear) #1

After you get Necheyev up the ramp, it’s a pain to run all the way back to it, especially once he is out of the gate. It takes a light class about 30 seconds to get from the spawn to the front area.

After the HE bomb goes off, resistence spawn all the way down by the health comm post.
When Necheyev gets to the ramp, if the resistance could spawn in the car park where security first spawn, it would help keep the momentum up.
This also happens on resort after the bridge is blown up. It really keeps the attacking team moving.

Getting Nechayef up the ramp and through the gate is certainly tough sledding. The spawn is very far away. There is a way to flank, but it is not much faster. It is tough, but possible with a good team. I hear your pain, but also feel that this map is similar to Container City in that it is the ultimate challenge. The key is pushing aggressively and not allowing the Security to get intrenched above the ramp. Definitely a tough situation.

container city and sec tower are both very hard for the attacking team - and both maps are the most played maps … and they are my favorite maps, too …

i dont know why i prefer them, although i know that other maps are more balanced - there is just something unique and cool about this maps

to topic: if they change the spawn the whole map gets a totaly different balance, i dont like the idea, although i hate this long way too

Yeah agreed. It makes any kill you make as resistance also much less valuable as people will be back within at most 15 seconds while it takes 30-45 seconds for you to get back.

People are trying to find a way to escort him without killing resitance because it simply doesn’t help that much. It leads to a dumb, lemming rush constantly bashing it head against the wall.

One tactic that may help is everyone moving together as a group after the re spawn and not everyone just sprinting back as fast as they can. More often then not I find those having trouble on Sec Tow and that part is that no one goes at it in groups, there is usually plenty of time to take a moment to slow down buff everyone up and go in groups and if you have enough medics you should be revived a few times before having to respawn.

The levels Sec Tow and Cont City and Resort are def tougher then many other maps but also victims of people not using the correct tactics to win them also. Always second guess yourself and what you could have done better or different and you will usually see there is something that could be done to change the situation or problem. The problem could also be your team, dont know if you play with groups of people who have mics or know each other but it really helps a lot, I can almost no longer play with just randoms, too frustating, need my crew!

I dunno I have seen Security Tower won a lot of times you just need a team that works together. The one map that needs some rebalacing though is reactor. That map is worse than Shipyard.

Even with the bridge controls built that map is a nightmare. You can clear the entire building out and start hacking. get it to 70% then get wiped and they get rid of it. Unlike Terminal the area is wide open so its hard to choke point the defenders as they have 3 entrances to the building.

Another problem is getting the Bridge controls built. It would be cool if lights could jump through the windows instead of having to enter the building first. That way you could have a light engineer go in and build it.

I usually leave the hack to a 1% and never completely remove it. So the offense has to come to the same side.

Then again , Reactor is better than Sec Towers final obj. Escorting is always a pain  .

Sec tower is actually do-able, unlike container city where you can just get spawn camped D:

you need to find the hiding place to hack safely. have a look around. you obviously dont need to stand right next to the hackbox!

(tokamak) #10

Container city is only more obvious because it’s the first phase and not the last.

(BioSnark) #11

@smoochy: With balanced teams, your team won’t be able to hold the objective long enough if you hide. Of course, they’re unlikely to hold the area long enough to complete regardless of where you 're hacking.

From what I’ve played, container city starts off heavily defensively biased. The last objectives are offensively biased in objective. With the time additions, offense can easily run the flag out with around 10 minutes to spare.

As for op and sectow, res spawn should definitely be moved forward and last obj time reduced. The objective takes way too long and resistance spend way too much of it running back and forth. There are plenty of nice command posts that can loose the buff and become spawns without intensive map altering. That might (oh, noez) require going beyond netvars like a number of the container city fixes suggested, elsewhere.

I find Security Tower very doable, when teams are pretty even.

The delivery mission can be tough sometimes if you aren’t able to keep up the pressure.

As for the escort mission, you have enough time to complete it. Once the escort gets to the chokepoint, you must group up after respawn and attack together. Once you get it through the chokepoint, the rest is pretty easy as long as you have enough time.
Respawn location and spawn time doesn’t really matter when you attack as a team, and when there is plenty of time to complete…because your progress can’t be undone.

+1 we need it

Agree with the OP, I think the spawn should move up to the health command post (that is at the bottom of the stairwell isn’t it?)
