Look Splash damage, Could you give us one solid reason we can not have SDK, YOu can even call it SPlash damage Koolio or something, i just want it, its either that or a blowtorch through a big building at bromley, with a comuter hacking device, yes im an operative, just give me the SDK And il make so many stufff!

TL;DR: i like cakes.

making SDK for 500-1000 PC players - unprofitable.

(OnceWasGreat) #3

Damn, every day i still miss 450-950 players because i find alway the same 3 servers with the same people playing in it! :frowning:

(Kinjal) #4

i think 500-1000 is a total amount of players interested in SDK, player base right now is 300-500 or less (not in steam top 100 so i dont know for sure).

the point of sdk is not how many peeps are playing the game.
the point is that the sdk can turn this dead game into a new healthy game.
this due to modders that can make what they like and please comunities requests

and it’s strange that sd doesn’t support sdk when they were born as modders first.
probably they didn’t make it and now that they are workin’ on a new project they don’t have enough men to make the sdk.

The SDK already exists, and was used to make the game. It might need some tidying up, but surely that’s worth the potential revival of the player base and some PC player faith? We’ve had the raw end of the deal so far, it’d be nice to see at least a tiny bit of love towards SD’s long-standing fanbase. You know, the people who bought their previous title and paid for some of Brink’s development?

revival of player base? players faith? long-standing fanbase? Jeez man u live in a dream world, there was a tiny chance that SD will go for Blizzard standarts (reputation>money), but now its absolutly clear that they are just like evrybody else, they will tell or promise anything to u, just buy the product. Do u remember why there was no PC demonstration? - “bla bla bla we know how to make pc games bla bla bla its much easy to orgonize a console demo bla bla bla PC version is fine” - that was truth? do u see any respect to PC players here?

Yes , i fully agree, but who need all this if u aiming for console market. SDK will not bring them any money, so why waste time on it. Healthy game for who? PC gamers? who da hell need them in this age of console ports

when sdk is released, modders start to work making products that delight customers.
So if u want “that” mod, you have to buy brink.

(dazman76) #10

All I meant, was that SOME of the player base would definitely return given an SDK, because that would lead to a ProMod, if nothing else. I’m talking a few thousand peak players again instead of a few hundred - nothing too drastic

The reality of today is grim for PC players. There is not so many developers who can tell a truth about whats going on. I like how Matt Benson from ubisoft said about new Ghost Recon -

“Ubisoft is straight as ever. The other day in an open publisher said it plans to earn as much money on Ghost Recon. Sorry, sorry, but true fans of the series will have to move a bit to make room for new arrivals”.

after that Matt offcourse said - “The cost of game development has grown. The situation requires us to go out and find a balance between creative thinking and commerce” - u need standart talking about balance if u dont want to fear off core fans.

But that how i see a balance for today:

  • main platform is console
  • minimum pc support
  • no clanwars support (competetive gameplay not bring any money)
  • no modders support ( for same reason)
  • all post-release activity are focused on DLC
