You know Skyrim and Rage both have mod tools? Isn’t what this whole thread is about?

You just sound like an angry nerd who wants to complain without even looking at the facts.

Can you please think twice before posting such a thing?

Many if not all recent Bethesda games came with an SDK, only BRINK is the exception … but yeah blame Bethesda as much as you want and don’t forget to apply to the Justice League

Okay then why are you blaming Bethesda for everything in this game? SD was working on this game long before they were picked up.

After Rahdo started talking to the community he made it clear SD got in over their heads with the game and they had to cut the SDK out. The final product we got is clear evidence that SD messed up bad with this game since they cut out A LOT of features that were promised.

Go do some more research about this before you get all feisty on the forums.

beth decides if they have to make sdk or not
simply

(dazman76) #46

I don’t think it will happen, and the whole situation is pretty crap to say the least. Especially given points already mentioned - id always releasing SDK’s, SD previously releasing SDK’s, and even Bethesda doing the same.

To be honest, I’d just like to see the main reported issues addressed, because I really don’t see people using the SDK now. It’s too late - and if they think that releasing the SDK in 2 or 3 months time will do the trick, they need to cancel that now and avoid wasting time on it.

We have maybe 6 or 7 issues that have been beaten to death - some less important than others, but still deserving attention. Seeing these fixed would do me fine, to be honest - and make Brink more like the game it should have been.

Yes me too - but that “weakness” wasn’t inspired by the SD logo  It came from playing the previous titles and enjoying them, and that pattern stopped for me in May. I certainly wouldn’t buy Brink 2, if it’s a continuation of the decisions made in the current game. Of course that won’t matter to SD, because many people will buy it - but meh, its not for me.

idtech3 games were also popular at a time when console gaming was not that big.

And besides, Quake 3 was ported to console.

(Verticae) #48

I assume the SDK would have to be funded by BethSoft, I doubt they’d want to spend anywhere between $40,000 and $90,000 on an SDK that barely anyone will use.

(shirosae) #49

They spent much more than that funding a pc game that barely anyone uses. Just sayin’. (You’re probably right, though. It’s a bit like Bethesda raising a cash cow only to shoot it in the head before it starts giving milk because they’d have buy a jug to put the milk in and they’d forgotten about it until too late, but publishers are publishers I guess.)

(rushzone.com) #50

SDK we might have seen if the PC numbers had stayed quite high but they haven’t, so no reason for them to spend money creating SDK when very little people will use it. Put it this way very little people will wait around for an SDK to mod brink when you have cryengine 3,unreal or source engine sdk out.

(Affe_mit_Waffe) #51

maybe its the other way with a sdk we would still see higher playercount,
while without it and without the possibility for the cometative players to make this game comp ready its dead like it is now :frowning:
and what does that proof??
maybe that developers follow marketing’s requests?

rtcw was on xbox too and it is tech3
cod’s series are on a modified id tech 3 and they are on consoles too (don’t believe me? Its written on the box too under copyrights)
how come? tech 3 was made for consoles?
yes i know id tech 3 has console ports, later they got console ports

id tech 4 was built to run on consoles & pc, not really ports, for example in brink / wolfenstein you find console mechanics in the game. id tech 3 never had any of this because it was made for the pc first. etqw overall imo is a better pc game because they developed brink with consoles in mind, thats why im wondering why it feels like im playing a console game when i play brink, etc

thats what i mean, it happend to wolfenstein, quake 4 single player, etc never had this problem on id tech 3 games

(tangoliber) #53

Is there any possibility that the news about open source Doom 3 / id tech 4 might lead to a Brink SDK?

(gooey79) #54

I believe game was built with episodic DLC in mind. To that end, I don’t believe a SDK will ever be green lit.

(AnthonyDa) #55

nope.
(+idiots chars)

(sanDIOkan) #56

they should put the sdk in the next DLC so people will pay their job
maybe this way everyone is happy

(CVIChEK) #57

I agree with sandiokan, Betshesda has the final say on Brinks SDK.
I am pretty sure that there is currently no SDK to begin with anyways. Why? While I have no idea about Betshesda (as evident by my different spelling every time), I am sure that no publisher is that stupid to hold out a possible game saver. Most likely Betshesda was so sure in BRINKs success, that they forced Splash Damage into scrapping the SDK and work fully on BRINK (hence the 1 week earlier release).
OR they are so greedy, that either, regardles if there is SDK or not, that they decided not to release it to make people buy DLCs or they will release it (free or with a price), but then instead of modders freeling adding stuff to the game, they would have to submit it to them and they would release them as payable DLCs.

In short, the SDK is in the hands of Bethsedsa, if they are smart we will get it, if they are poor decision planners or greedy, we might get it, but with a catch.
