SDK & Map Editor

(Kairus) #1

Any news on them?

(.Chris.) #2

Not yet. There would be a big news item on the front page once they are announced…

(madness) #3

I’m sure they got bigger things to worry about than modtools…

(Ragoo) #4

For PC players that don’t have performance problems, want to play this in MP for a longer time and want this to succeed as an esport there doesn’t seem to be anything more important right now.
Of course everything that can be done with the SDK could be done by SD themselves but the community will be faster and more precise.

Right now imo things that need to be fixed are stuff like spawn timer, /kill command (?) and some adjustment to some maps/objectives and probably weapon/ability restrictions but that’s only once we figure out what’s not balanced (for 5v5).
Oh and 1st person spectator mode and custom crosshair -_- But I expect SD to do that, it shouldn’t be that hard!

Also some hardworking modders could come up with a way to show more stats especially to the spectators

I’m just looking for some acknowledgment they’re being worked on. I haven’t found much information about them, last I heard was that there was definitely going to be map editors released, and then someone else was like “well…this is an SD game, so there must be editors!”.

(.Chris.) #6

For some reason they are neither confirming or denying that editing tools will be released. Sadly we have to wait and see.

(Codine) #7

The introduction of “downloadable content” on the main menu doesn’t look very promising for this D:

I still have hope for SP though.

SIngleplayer?

(Codine) #9

whoops meant SD.

It’s getting late here, I should get to sleep soon haha

(matsy) #11

Could be dependent on the amount of sales they get to decide whether or not they bother to create SDK tools or not…

That would be really cool, displaying some of the custom content made by the community in game. I felt that due to ranked servers only allowing stock maps a lot of custom content in ETQW was over looked.

(hideinlight) #12

Not gonna get brink if they don’t bring out UT’s equivalent of mutators and a map editor. Some serious potential there, I want to be able run on skyscrapers with gravity defying boots lol.

(Dark0ne) #13

I’m waiting for an SDK before buying this game, too

(light_sh4v0r) #14

Not UT’s equivalent of an SDK, that’s just dragging some stuff together and have it filled up automatically with the same gunk that you find in every other map. Or is that Cryengine?

Anyway, SDK pl0x

(PsYcHo) #15

I really hope they release SDK & Map Editor.
If they really want that the community buys all their next games & want that the game stays alive long they just MUST do it.

(riptide) #16

map editor now plz. objection points in a couple areas are questionable.

(Deltaz) #17

I really hope they release the SDK. I can see the community creating some very interesting maps were SMART plays a big part.

(Frostinberg) #18

Sadly, it seems as most of the newer games are becoming less and less moddable ._. I want to be able to make my own maps DAMN IT!!! I’ll just stick with the older games I still play that are more fun and still are more fun because it’s more open source!

(tangoliber) #19

I can’t believe id software still hasn’t released the mod tools for Rage.

(zenstar) #20

Mod tools only get released after you finish squeezing the money out of the product. Why let people make horse armour when you can sell them horse armour?
