SD, we present to you our melodramatic plea!

(JGBarnes) #1

All we want to hear is someone from SD reply to this thread and say, “Yes, we are working on all of these issues including, but not limited to; lag, graphics, lobby, and AI. Please, put your pitchforks away and you can put the goat down, we don’t need your blood sacrifice in order to appease us.” I promise you more than half of us will merrily comply and be ecstatic to know that you guys haven’t fallen off the face of the earth with our money.

Now this concerns mainly the Xbox 360 version…

I could have waited another month if it meant that it would have the polish it deserved. Bethesda really shot themselves in the foot releasing this game early and having the review heavyweights like IGN, 1up, and Gamestop make sure that no one buys their game. Ugh…I am still totally in love with this game, but holy crap did they EVER make a HUGE mistake releasing a game and expecting their dedicated fans to pay 60 bucks to finish beta testing it it while everyone else forgets Brink ever existed. They’ll have some serious explaining to do in order to not only keep their current and dwindling fan base, but reassure those that weren’t early adopters that their game is still worth a damn, “We promise.”

I am one of the very few who doesn’t give up so easily and will gladly follow SD around like a slave dog until they get this damn game fixed. Not only do I fully expect no one else to do the same, but I don’t blame anyone who would back out now because of how cheated you must feel; as I certainly do.

SD, Bethesda, I adore your games and your massive ideas, there won’t be many of us left after all of this. I’ll be one of the few who will be left standing in this desert, parched and sand burned, waiting for you to come to my rescue. :o

I was once a hardcore dedicated Ubisoft fan, and they lost me and COUNTLESS others because of fan and quality neglect. I left and never looked back and I was one of those guys, as I am now, that stood to the very end. I defended them and backed them against an oppressive force of spiteful, cheated fans, yet I finally caved. I make sure to tell everyone how terrible of a company they are any chance I get.

Please don’t do this to us. Just let us know you are aware of these issues, namely the horrendous lag, the sub-par aliasing and murky washed out look, our desire for a lobby system, and an AI tuning, among other issues.

But first, for the love of everything holy, fix this lag pronto! At least let us PLAY it no matter how ugly it looks or if we have to chase our friends into games because there is no lobby system.

Signed,
Your adoring fans (or just me, whatever.)

They should just give a heads up for all 3 platforms.

It’s getting ridiculous. This game is now 8 days out in america and 5 days in europe and the problems of this game are tremendous!

I could care less about some tiny bugs here and htere in the game i mean NO GAME is perfect when it’s released but this here is a complete mess, nothing more.

(RobbieG) #3

I agree with the OP i too love bethesda games always have. But i feel cheated with this game as i did with APB from realtime worlds.

I was a beta tester with them for 6 months we told them time in and out that the game was full to the brim of bugs and was very unbalanced, hacked to crap with aimbotters and very un polished.

They released it in its later form. Done the odd small patch and the game went bust in less than two months as did the company because they didnt listen to community, nor did they do regular forum posts to let peeps know where they were with current issues.

I really hope this doesnt happen here. All we want is an official saying Patch day will be a Friday or similar and were working on X problems at the moment.

6 days now, EU release was Friday 13th now theres an Omen.

The blame for this pile of excrement that can only by the broadest of standards be referred to as a game, lies with Splash Damage first and foremost.

And their pathetic customer service has cemented a lot of people’s opinions about the company. I for one won’t be buying from this company ever again if this is the way they treat their console users. A single free DLC won’t fix this.

(Awez0me) #5

They allready said they appreciate all feedback from the community and that they work actively on LAG. AI and other Issues.
Saying they dont say anything is just not true.

Also the game is great, even with all the frrezes to the german version, before we found a Workaround people keepd playing it because the gamplay is Awesome.

I am ok with Free DLC as consolidation for the issues we have-

(Wildkarrde) #6

Worst thing is my current opinion of sd is spreading to Bethesda

(Ch3W) #7

Nice post JGBarnes. I couldn’t have put it better myself. Fingers crossed for me, not lost hope just yet. I’m hanging in there but my patience is wearing thin…

Ok, so now its four days since we heard any news from SD. I am curious as to what has be found to be the problem with the game coding. Has anything been found, or are the programers still searching thru the thousands of lines of code to figure out whats gone wrong? Will we be getting any updates, has a patch been submited to MS for their stage of testing. Does the patch release date coincide with the new DLC? Will there be many patches, for example we will fix the LAG, then move on to AI, ect. We have no information what so ever on what is going on… and people are getting more and more fustrated.

SD/Bethesda, may I make a sugestion… Please keep us updated. How about on Monday morning, every Monday morning, give us an quick update as to what progress has been/not done. Just to apease the general group. I love Brink and want to see this succeed, but fear that the XBox community will eventually give up and Brink will only be found in the cheap/used bin.

PLEASE, PLEASE… Public relations now adays is a must and with everyone getting information quickly from every other source, don’t get killed by trying to sweep these issues under the rug.

Yes, I understand that they say they “listen to” or “read” everything in these forums, but let me give you a simile…

I’m very hungry. Been telling all my friends and family about this amazing restaurant we should go to. Funny thing about this restaurant is you pay BEFORE you finish your meal. That’s fine. That’s just the way this particular restaurant works and I’m starving anyway and I’ve heard it’s the best in town.

We all order spaghetti. It’s their specialty. We hand the waiter our cash and off he goes.

It comes out pretty quick. “Great news,” the waiter says, “We knew you were so hungry and we have such amazing cooks that we can present to you this meal just a bit quicker than normal!”

So awesome! I grab my knife and fork and go to dive in. My fork sinks all the way through the clumpy sauce (looks kind of off, but that’s ok, I guess, maybe I’m just being picky) and clinks off the plate with a eye-wincing scratch. No noodles? “Did you get noodles?” I ask my friend, Pete.

“Yeah, I got a few…like five or six,” he replies.

“I didn’t get any at all,” I say incredulously, “How about you guys?!”

The rest of my friends answer in unison, “No noodles at all! And this sauce doesn’t look right!”

The waiter comes back and says, “Alright guys, desert will be on us. We’re sorry for your inconvenience. We have lovely chocolate sundaes.”

“Hey, wait a minute,” I ask, grabbing his arm, “There are supposed to be noodles in this spaghetti and the sauce looks clumpy like it’s spoiled or something.”

“We are aware of the problems. We watch the tables and pay close attention to our customers reactions. Thank you for asking.”

“Thank you, sir!” I shout joyfully, “And we’ll take you up on the free desert!”

An hour goes by. We’ve been eating small spoonfuls of this odd tasting sauce. I mean, we’re starving. We paid for the meal already. Haven’t seen the waiter at all. We shout across the room, “Hey, anyone? The sauce? No noodles?”

We hear a disembodied voice from some indiscernible direction in the restaurant. “We are aware of the problems. We watch the tables and pay close attention to our customers reactions. Thank you for asking.”

“Hmm…ok?” I quietly grumble.

Two hours go by. “Hey, anyone? The sauce? No noodles?”

“We are aware of the problems. We watch the tables and pay close attention to our customers reactions. Thank you for asking. If you could have someone take out their phone and take a picture of the lumpy sauce that would greatly help us.”

“You didn’t look at the sauce when you brought it out?! Your cooks didn’t? How do you not know? Why do you need a picture of it? Why don’t you guys just look at the sauce back there?”

3 hours later…

“We are aware of the problems. We watch the tables and pay close attention to our customers reactions. Thank you for asking.”

“We are aware that YOU are aware of the problems! We are aware that you have ears and are capable of hearing our complaints. But what is BEING DONE?! Are you making more noodles? Getting some fresh tomatoes to make fresh sauce? What is happening back there? Are you even in the kitchen? Where are you?”

“Hey, man,” Pete says, “Take it easy. They said they are aware of the issues.”

“Yeah?!” I fire back, “I am aware that I am now 60 bucks short for spoiled sauce and no noodles and they are fully aware of the bulging wad of cash in their pockets.”

“But,” Pete says meekly, “We get free desert…”

“I didn’t come here for desert! I want my damn spaghetti!”

(JGBarnes) #10

Actually, is it not Bethesda who is responsible for deadlines? Since they are publishing, I believe it’s their say when it’s released and when it’s done. Is it not? I know for certain that’s not up to Splash Damage. I’m certain if it were up to SD they would have worked overtime to iron out the bugs. Richard Ham even stated that there were some things he wishes he could have done before release, but in the gaming industry devs have to deliver when the publishers say they have to.

Or I could be wrong about that.

(RobbedCustomer) #11

“We are aware of the problems. We watch the tables and pay close attention to our customers reactions. Thank you for asking. If you could have someone take out their phone and take a picture of the lumpy sauce that would greatly help us.”

Excellent. Hey SD do you want me to send you my xbox, tv and copy of brink so you can see what i’m playing? I assume you’ve never tested the 360 version by the way you’re reacting to our questions

(dlux) #12

Epic spaghetti post JGBarnes
A painful truth…

(Wildkarrde) #13

Give them a chance it’s not easy counting all the money they’ve got from us

(AgitatedDosh) #14

LOL that spagetti post made me crack up.I nearly wet myself when he said the bit about taking the photo of it on ur phone.Great post,so so true

(murtle52) #15

It’s interesting to see how numerous people in this thread who are long time supporters of s/d are questioning what the hell happened here…

it’s like they have that dazed look of people walking away from a train wreck

oh and the spaghetti analogy

brilliant

(Nail) #16

I doubt anyone in this thread has played a SD game before as they were both on PC, ETQW on consoles were done by Nerve and Underground Development, so I don’t see any long term SD supporters other than me

(dlux) #17

I’d like you to explain what you just said has to do with anything.
Do you want some kind of thumbs up? I don’t get it.

(panickin) #18

Yeah more than likely, have faith consolers, they’ll fix the stuff

(murtle52) #19

did you even read the initial post to this thread at all? ROFL

that guy was a long time supporter of bethesda and sd and sounds like he’s walking away

scroll down a bit from that and actually READ some of these posts

(necrome) #20

I’m a huge supporter of SD, having played and enjoyed their past games. But this is becoming ridiculous. I got an Xbox version cause I cannot afford to upgrade my computer every so often, but now I can’t even sell Brink because the PR bull**** has everyone shunning the game. FML.
