SD W:ET Party - 30th August
I really dont know is why Bani not give the source code of etpro for someone continue his great work, i have sure if he do it ET will continue getting more players for many years!!
[QUOTE=Sabayon;197377]He’s addressed this at his site couple times. There’s really nothing more to do with it… Which is true, and with the use of Lua Modules users can make their own addons to etpro and bring new settings in. There’s really no more bugs to be fixed.
I think its pretty much perfected :stroggbanana:
best mod ever

No reason to give out source really. If they did I’m sure nothing better would really happen from it. Possibly the source would be butchered.
I won’t talk about ETPub becouse I don’t know that much as ETPro and NoQ.
If we are talking about pure NoQ there is only one „problem“. NoQ offers too many gameplay settings and it can be deeply customized.
In fact, deep customization is not real problem. However, it becomes a problem at the moment when customization is done by somebody who has not good gameplay sense.
Server administrators are those who make NoQ unbalanced, insane, spammy, ugly, etc.
It’s about settings. If you are crazy you can use insane settings that can easily fit your needs. If you like simple game as it is you can set up your server using „sober“ settings with slight gameplay changes only.
For old-style players, the most NoQ server administrators are using nearly-insane settings (including: xp save, deeply changed gameplay, shrubbot spam, frag-oriented settings instead obj-oriented, trash-like player skins and sounds, etc., etc.).
That’s true but (as I wrote above) it’s about server settings not about mod.
I consider myself as old-style WolfET player and the most loved (for me) things in WolfET are:
- tons of different gameplay styles (you can play as a sniper, medic, supplier, gunner, machine-gunner, sapper, artillery-man, mechanic, etc.)
- fast action
- role play in general (player classes and skills)
As player, the reasons why I like NoQ more than ETPro are:
I. NoQ offer more gameplay styles
II. NoQ extends role play
III. you CAN set your server to makes you feel old-style based game
Now, NoQ 1.2.5 has slightly better performance than ETPro 3.2.6.
Here is one of the reasons:
Due to various licensing terms relative to some parts of ETPro code he is unable to release it.
As Sabayon wrote… I can see more disadvantages than advantages too if ETPro source would be released.
It’s much butter if it’s kept as it is insted modding it and adding some crazy nonsenses by somebody who wants…
Just a regular classic Enemy Territory match would be nice. 6 original maps and no mods.
Tbh. I consider vanilla ETpro with default cfg being the classic game for me. Some custom maps are good to have but no extra mods.
Well i liked the no hitsounds, then you were always wondering if you had wounded your enemy or not and did not calculate using your “brain power” how much health he has remaining.
Then I’m even a worse player xD
Well there are some maps, that are even better then the original 6 map!
I think thath with the arrival of gtk radiant, and some knowlage ET went more fun, better etc…
I don’t have anything against custom maps, it’s just that it would be nice to play only original maps for once too. Can’t remember the last time i saw a server that had all original 6 maps on pool.
SOmethign with Hive original 6 map or so is a good server with active players. It’s only 2.55 so you have to use patch selector to play there :’)
doesn’t nail’s server have etpro with basic maps?
Anyway there are plenty of servers that just have the 6 basic maps, and not on 2.55.
2.55 = the darkside
lol, just last month we added 2 custom maps to our rotation for the first time in over 4 years, TC_Base and Supply, but still etpro 3.2.6, no skins, no addon packs. Stock rotation can be set or voted. Let me know, I’ll make sure there’s an admin on
btw, server is in Germany, but I get no lag even with 140 ping
I recommend use of the mods over etmain because all of them now support the bugfix scripts to various extents. (For the record: I do not guarantee 100% functionality of my own bugfix scripts outside of the etpro environment!). These scripts correct serious exploits and excessively long wait states. A number of them correct spawn bugs that are due to a quirk in the autospawn system.
ET was an awesome game right out of the box. ETpro makes it perfect. The other mods are gimmicky in my opinion, but to each his own.
