This is the major thing I’m concerned for. You’re crippling his room clearing potential. Sure you can get a perfect flash but if that station isn’t disabled you’ll probably spend the majority of your flash destroying only that.
I think the idea is that the whole team utilizes the flash. If 3 people dash in at the same time, it should be easy to destroy a station and 2 blind players.

At least it’s not another spotting ability…
Thunder should not have his flashbang removed - why can’t he just have a flashbang that flashes AND has the EMP effect, while Phantom has a grenade that does the EMP effect alone, but the effect lasts for longer? Just when we thought that Thunder was going to get more viable, he gets this crap… Oh well, it’s not like anyone would pick anyone over Stoker right now anyway, since they’ve made him a freaking god.
It does raise a question… why is Phantom still a recon merc? All other recon mercs have spotting ability and rifles but Phantom has none of that.
Sneaking with a cloak? Hah hah… yeah, it pretty much only works against noobs.
… I suppose they had to put him into some class and recon drew the short straw.
Also, saying “not another spotting ability” could be like saying “not another fire support with ammo packs/ station” (hell would probably break loose if they released fire support with no ammo packs or dispenser).

I’d love to see him, instead of a cloak-based close range EMP, get a dart/heartbeat EMP. No spotting for him, but instead you get the ability to be the biggest fucking nuisance on the battlefield by putting little EMP orbs in silly areas to pick apart a defence.
It sounds far more fun honestly.
Nooooooo, not poor Thunder. The emp is what helped me get good amounts of kills with him.

You don’t remove one merc’s main features to give it to a merc that’s probably never be able to use it.
Phantom is a recon,imo he’s supposed to target isolated pepole,not go into choke points,launch an EMP,and just die right after.
The only buff that would feel more useful to Phantom would be to reduce the noise his cloak makes, remove knives from his loadout cards and give him long ranged melee weapons like the cricket bat or the kukri instead.

The update is coming and we can see for ourselves.
Who knows, it might be a good buff. Let’s be a bit optimistic.

SD sent @kAndyREW 9 new loadout cards to showcase in one of his videos, and one of them was a CR63 Phantom, a card with both Cricket Bat and Chopper. So Phantom + Cricket Bat confirmed for 2nd Edition.
This is so double-edged and without thought that I wouldn’t be surprised to see it happen. Its a nerf for people with brains who don’t want to run the stupid sword that slows you down to secondary speed, and a buff for the average pubber who runs into a fight with their melee out. When you can tap 4 even when its on cooldown for max run speed I’ll be okay with it, otherwise its gimping players to appease the majority who can’t even play Phantom effectively.
Don’t know why you lot are so obsessed with a melee that he can barely ever use effectively lmao.
