SD should add knives as a secondary

Currently the knives in my opinion aren’t that useful. It takes 2 slashes to kill an enemy, and after the first slash they turn around a shoot you. You can shoot them and then slash them (or vice versa) but if you’re doing this to a guy behind a group of say 2, the other 2 guys will turn around and then kill you.

What I think SD should add is knives as a secondary; this would take the place of a pistol. I think it should be a one hit kill BUT it is limited to light body types and you have to be behind the guy, like an assassination. If you’re not behind the guy, it would be the regular knife attack. You could even make the player “spec” into it by putting it in the Operative tree. This makes the light body type a more of a get in get out type, which it was designed to be.

I don’t know - for me knife is plently effective I killed 3 enemies in the group with it just by jumping around them and slashing :smiley: But having it like an ability would be cool

You would run faster when you have it equipped as well.

it was going to be in the game apparently (anger concept art and trailer)

but leaving it only to lights+dumb and boring why does everyone want light exclusives and why cant my heavy use a shovel as a melle weapon or a sledge and why one hit kill if you want to make iseas try to think of them balanced.

i want customizable melle weapons

Yeah, maybe leaving it to just the lights is a bad idea. However I think it would be fair if you had to spec into it via the Operative tree.

Knives are fine currently. Yes, they take multiple hits to kill an enemy. But no, they will NOT have enough time to react since you can slash so fast. I constantly just run into a bunch of guys with a disguise, start hacking away and kill them all with my knife.

PC player here so it’s not like they can’t turn around fast. The knife just already kills so freaking fast that you can’t react to it when it’s coming from behind.

One of the most annoying things in MW2 was the knife noobs, always sprinting around with their tactical knives. A shooter should never have melee kills like that, it is just plain silly. A last ditch desperate move when out of ammo is fine.

1 hit melee is one of the worst things to come out of the current generationg of fps’s and if it appears in Brink then I will hang up my running shoes but luckily I believe SD have heard of a term called balance so that shouldn’t happen.

Ironically, even in that video, the guy has to slash enemies multiple times to kill them. So that basically is how Brink is already, minus the knife throwing.

I love the melee in this game. It isn’t cheap at all…it requires great timing…but it is still an effective tool.

The knife is already pretty overpowered as it is in the hands of someone who knows how to use it.
Sea Eagle double tap then knife kills in second.
