SD server name is wrong?

im currently closer to singapore than to hong kong

is the server somehow switched?

yea but i used to only have around 10-12 ping

I used to get 54 to Singapore and 240 to Hong Kong. As of a few weeks ago, I get 150 to Singapore and 130 to Hong Kong.

It’s routing… being geographically close does not mean the packets will travel less distance.

I was in Singapore once and was downloading data from Hong Kong and noticed the packets were coming from San Francisco. It’s internet politics. More countries… more politics.

yea but that doesnt make any sense, i dont have to travel by cable to hong kong and if im not mistaken, the hongkong cable is owned by joint Aus-ASEAN country.

your ISP determines which route the packets will go. Between other ISPs they might have a traffic schedule or a priority scheme to route certain kinds of traffic during a particular time of day. If you know the address of the server you’re connecting to, try performing a tracert and find out how the packets are being routed.

now both hongkong and Singapore is 54 ping
is it just me or did SD moved both to singapore/taiwan

i remember there were quite the number of people playing from japan a while back.

just to be certain, determine the IP addresses of both SG and HK servers…

Then find out if they are physically distant from each other.

generally i noticed the ping has gone up in all servers. I used to get 50-60 but now im getting double and triple of that in aisan servers
