You have good concept for points etc. But you missed the biggest core part of the gameplay. There is a reason why every cup, every scrim and every pug has one merc rule.

i thought people came running to rank because cool stuff like friendly fire and 5v5 less cancer match?
The issue with 1 merc rule in dirty bomb is that it will restrict newer players from playing the mercs they bought / spent the time to unlock
also if they are brand new they would only have 7 to choose 3 from, which if another low level was on their team they’d be pretty stuffed
One merc rule can be interesting in combination with the option to chose any merc you have already unlocked, before every respawn. Just like in QW.

Well, the problem is, ranked matches are more cancer-ish than public matches because in smaller player pool, you see how broken the game is in terms of balance. This is why DBN is keeping merc bans to make matches less terrible.
I don’t see a problem in terms of one merc rule, just put a ranked restriction “You need to own at least 3 mercs to play” like in Paladins and if someone is playing with fragger, your fragger card will be unable to use until he switch merc. Ranked shouldn’t be a blatant copy of public where everyone should play whatever they want. Take some notes from OW, Pala, Rainbow 6 even Cod4 Promod…

Merc stacking is actually impossible to balance away and should have some regulation.
But no merc should ever be banned. If mercs are banned, there is one of two problems happening:
A. The merc is completely imbalanced and too good at all levels of play
B. The player pool is too small
TBH I don’t understand the allure of having such a limited playing field. 6v6 just opens so many more enjoyable strategic options while not being a clusterfuck like 7v7. Having that extra guy also allows your team to spread out a little more so that Thunder’s conc nades aren’t a straight up team wipe every time, and gives more attack angles and cuts off routes for low-hp mercs that rely on flanking, like Proxy.
Thunder’s problem is a little of column A, a little of column B
Proxy’s problem is just straight up column B
But I have heard more to the contrary, that Proxy is basically useless in 5v5?

Depends, if that Proxy spam mines near their team, it’s basically free friendly-fire multikill lmao
im thinking, if theres a double merc in a team, would there be a kind of hole that you can exploit?
e.g. they fielded 2 aura that means squishy in their team just got increased and could be get rid off with explosive/arty spam
or
when they take 2 thunder, 2 sparks and 1 bushwhacker (assuming all these people have the same knowledge and skills) wouldnt they suffer by conc their own team and really weak healing in a fire fight (assuming people have the decency to finish off downed players)

Also community has nothing to do with gameplay rules.
My biggest issue with ranked is the ability to stack mercs.
But the problem is it’s hard to find a good solution with a three merc limit. (Including bans)
I would love to remove the three merc limit in ranked only, but not everybody has every merc unlocked putting another roadblock in a feasible solution.

Find a strategy to fight other players strategy?
Game rules are often community driven, hence forums. Cancerous competitive community leads to cancerous competitive rules.
I don’t think merc bans are needed for ranked, those can stay in pugs and tournaments but I defo agree with the 1 merc limit
One merc limit should be a thing. If not 1, at least make it 2. To counter people not owning some mercs, the merc selection should be unlocked in ranked letting everyone use all characters.
Ranked should be level 15, not level 7. No disrespect intended, but there’s way too many idiots in ranked who have no idea how to play. Level 7 is too low. Dudes who use 5 proxy’s to attack and then blame “balance” as the reason they are losing. Seriously? Get a clue.
I just got accused by some dude who is level 30 something with 457 hours in Dirty Bomb for hacking because “you knew when we were coming out of spawn” … Like seriously man. People do my head in.
This Ain’t Dbn ,The game is up to the individuals to play classes that will make you play like a team.If something is annoying you well i would say the tactics are working.
