Hi guys,
Is there a resource which teaches how to add pieces of equipemnt (boxes/ladder etc) using scripts instead of making a new map?
Cheers!

Don’t think there is, banimod forums have exactly the same, and btw this is a pretty tricky thing todo after what I’ve read.
Yea, it is
as you know, I tried to create adlernest with roof access, I had so many issues with mapping I dropped it. So then I though I would just add a ladder near the bridge.
If anyone is willing to help, let me know:P

There are always issues with mapping :D, But I think for us who are terrible at code/script its better to fiddle with the maps until they work as we want them to

Haha, yea I just installed GtkRadiant and already encountered my first problem
When .bsp compile, the error says: BaseWindingForPlaneAccu: no dominant axis found because normal is too short
Jesus…
You can put a ladder with mapscript I think. You could use wheels to do a stairs
Get orign with /viewpos and place more wheel till you get on roof.
create
{
scriptname "reifen1"
targetname "reifen1"
origin "102 704 26"
angles "0 170 90"
classname "misc_gamemodel"
modelscale 1
contents 1
mins "-20 -20 -100"
maxs "20 20 52"
clipmask 1
model "models/mapobjects/blitz_sd/blitzwheelsf.md3"
}
You cannot add a ladder.
Ladder is a surface param which has to exist at compile time.
You could add some kind of stairs, use models like barrels or boxes, or create your own model.
Then you have to add func_fakebrushes for clipping it. Depending on the mod you want to use this afterwards it will not be very cool, players will sink into the clip brush. But overall its possible and should work.
Easiest to learn mapscripting is to read existing ones.
But then again, its probably better to recompile the map with your changes.
Try netradiant for compiling your work, even if you only use the q3map2 from it. From my experiences it has less problems, but I could be wrong.

edit: Just what micha wrote
you can always look at this and see that you have done things right:
http://icculus.org/gtkradiant/documentation/q3radiant_manual/index.htm
But here’s what I did:
I got my hdd parted in 3 partitons and one of them I have for all my mapping and mod stuff (so I dont loose stuff if virus kills my window on c)
so I got partiton G where I made 2 folders:
programs - here I unzipped gtk 1.6
Program Files (x86) - here I installed an own et installation to use for mapping
first I took the files from gtkfolder G:\programs\GtkRadiant-1.6.4-20131213\installs\ETPack\install and copied that etmain over to wolfenstein install and pasted it over.
then you have to link wolfenstein folder to your gtk when you start up.
works as a charm for me
I am running Vista (:SSSS), but game and gtkradian is not installed on the C:
I will try doing your suggestion. I have not installed ETPack. Maybe this is why lol
EDIT: I took adlernest source file, tried to compile and the same error occurs, thus it is not something I do wrong while editing the map, its the complie process that is ****ed up. I will see netgradient, maybe it will work just fine…
Copied ETPack - did not help
64bit or 32 bit vista? If you got 32 bit be sure to into preferences and remove the hook on the 64bit compiler!!
go into radiant and press “p” go down to bsp monitoring and you see what I mean and try again
edit:
Game Installation
On all platforms, GtkRadiant reads and writes game assets from within your game’s directory. Before you start installing GtkRadiant, first make sure you have the game you want to edit for installed. GtkRadiant officially supports a number of different games. It is recommended to run a “clean” install: creating a separate installation of the game free of any third party custom content.
WindowsGtkRadiant 1.6 is packaged as a compressed zip file. Extract it somewhere on your system such as C:\GtkRadiant. Double-click on radiant.exe to start GtkRadiant, and be patient while the program initializes for the first time.
Some Windows users may find that they need to install the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012. If you try to run GtkRadiant and you are getting an error message about missing .dll files, you will need to install this first. 32-bit users will need to download vcredist_x86.exe, 64-bit users will need to download both vcredist_x86.exe and vcredist_x64.exe.
this is from gtk’s site so there can be a problem with this too, now I had a bad time with vista myself

Thanks for the suggestion! I was hoping it would work, but it didnt
Error: BaseWindingForPlaneAccu: no dominant axis found because normal is too short
I had the same problem before, but it then somehow stopped by itself
maybe time to upgrade to win7 then
sorry cant really help you more I guess… since I got 64 bit system I guess even if I bundled my installation and uploaded it, it probbably wouldnt work
:U well, I guess I will install it on my laptop and see what happens then… :I
Will post my reply later
Oh my god, even on windows 7 it does not work!!
Is there is something I do wrong when I install GtkRadiant?
Hum hum hum, i like you question, i have also that question
Radiant is stupid…
But mateos did post a link for missed dlls you can get on microsoft in another thread pickable wapons in a fantastic off-topic
You can always have a look
Ive not look/test it yet, becouse i got a 1.3.8 that works and i never get time or urge to look at a new version or make it fit the computer
+ have you run a brush cleanup?
One green arrow and one blue
(a button in radiant)
This worked like a charm!
