Script Movers and Spawn points together

So far i have achieved to start a script mover when a flag is captured, The script mover comes to a stop after about 20 seconds of motion.

I was wondering if i could put spawn points on the Script mover ( it is a boat) which move with the boat

Would i have to change the Spawn points to a script mover? or just attach it somehow?

I am terrible at scripting - not my strong point.

Just come back to mapping too - a bit rusty.

so did I - didn’t work. digibob did mention way back when that he believed it was possible and had done it…but I don’t think he could find the test map or that the system had changed :frowning:

hmm well i’l either wait for some conformation that it is or it is not possible for now then. Hope one of the experienced mappers/scripters read this.

how about if i try that spawn points are only active when the script_mover has finished it’s little route?

I have always wondered about this also.
I know you can attach some entities to a tag ( like a target_smoke, Dlights etc) So it might be possible to attach a team_CTF_redspawn or a team_CTF_bluespawn to a tag. But then, depending on the amount of players you want to spawn (like say 32), you must create a md3 model of the boat with 32+1 tags on it. 32 for the team_CTF_blue/redspawn and 1 for the team_WOLF_objective entity.
The main problem would be how to attach each of the 32 spawns to the different tags. As far as I know all team_CTF_blue/redspawns in a certain spawnarea allways share the same targetname and you can only attach them , by scripting, if they all have different targetnames…

but you group together the certain spawns dont you? when you activate them by a flag capture.

In theory it should work.

I tried to attach various team_CTF_redspawn,etc (all the spawn point entities I could think of) to a tag of a moving truck. No combination moved the spawn point with the vehicle in my efforts.

You could make a spawnpoint for each point the boat follows. It seems like that’s the only option left.

i would end up with about 10 consecutive blocks of 16 spawn points - A sea of blue spawn flags

roffle - but it seems as if it really is the only option - thanks LaggingTom

Our mod’s coder thinks it would be possible to mod the function in. But that doesn’t help in this case.

thanks for the replies anyway - i’l see what i can do and try and get the best effect. I’l reply as soon as i get something working
