Script_mover problem - getting crushed

(No1_sonuk) #1

I have a script_mover that the player rides in. It’s essentially an open-topped box made of clip weapon metal brushes.

The problem I’m having is that If I’m standing away from the centre, I keep getting crushed when it goes around corners.

Any ideas (apart from “Stand near the centre” type comments)?

Are your clip boxes thicker than the sides of the mover?

an open-topped box made of clip weapon metal brushes.

The mover is made of clip brushes. Clip brushes are used to make the mover. Errm, I can’t think of another way to say it.

Also, how do you make the player turn with the mover? i.e. the player stays in the same place and relative orientation.

For some reason I saw “made with” and thought the clips were there on top of… er, anyway!

You should trying thinning out the clip brushes and see if that helps. As for the second, I’m hoping to be corrected, but I don’t think it’s possible. If you try to stand in the truck in goldrush, you don’t turn with the truck. :frowning: Hopefully, I’m wrong though!

I don’t think its possible to have the player turning with the model. On Railgun if you deploy a mobile MG42 on the tug, you keep the same heading eventhough the tug is turning around.

And the player isn’t even turned with the model, when attached to a mounted gun (ex. tank).

Anyway, my tank prefab, crushes me when its starting. That is because it turns extremely fast on the spline plot. You may want to try some softs turns.

Are you using the spline system for the path?

Yup, I am using splines.
Hmm. The train is a good point actually.
Could it be the type of clipping that I’m using (clip weapon metal)?

heh. On the ‘V-2 Factory’ map I just rode the rocket while it was being lifted onto the train. When the rocket was turned 90 degrees, I turned with it. Perhaps deploying the Mobile MG42 and using a mounted tank gun, fixes your global orientation.

In regard to the texture. I don’t think so, but you always try another texture and see if it does the same.
