script mover not fully solid

(Teuthis) #1

hey folks,

I’m almost happy with my map and have only a very few bugs left where I would appreciate your help.

  • I have a truck in my map which after the gold has been stolen need to be escorted to the allied home base. Problem I have is that part of the truck (actually the front part) is not solid and I can walk through it. I checked that all brushes (including the translucent ones) have the ‘solid’ check mark but the truck is still unsolid. Also I unchecked and re-checked the ‘solid’ mark without solving the problem.

  • another problem: I have a button that opens a door so that the alliens have a shortcut to the tank that needs to be captured. Here the button opens the door but the button don’t move when it’s pushed (but it opens the door). I tried all possible directions but the button doesn’t move.

thanks for your input guys.

The button is also a door - a small door…

If you got thin clips in a script mover they can be nonsolid i think - but im not sure

thanks but not sure how this is going to help me here

Is the clip extended at the bottom of the Truck? Does it have a square origin textured brush with it?

Maybe you’d need to script the button movement on the action event, like moving on a certain axis back and forth.

Thanks Mateos. Will Check ASAP

I think the solid checkmark is not needed, but rather i think those kind of movers like the truck or tank have a clip-textured brush around them and, as Mateos said, they have an origin and that origin gets tagged to the origin of the actual mover, so when the mover moves, the clip moves with it.

But i really would need to look it up again (no radiant installed atm).

Without Radiant, using ETScript4 with Gold Rush BSP for instance could give a preview of how it works

you guys are freaking genious
