script_mover and direction angle

(Mean Mr. Mustard) #1

I’ve create a script_mover out of asymmetric brushwork (like a vehicle). Eventually these ‘vehicle’ brushes will be replaced with an md3. The orign of the script_mover is to the rear of the vehicle. I’ve set up a spline path.

Initially, the vehicle is facing the ‘correct’ direction (the direction I want it to face), but as soon as it starts down the spline path, the brushwork rotates 180 degrees (so the vehicle is going backwards)

I’ve tried using faceangles. I’ve tried moving the origin of the brushwork. I’ve tried adding the brushes into the script_mover in a different order.

I know I’m missing something basic here, but how is the ‘direction angle’ of a script_mover determined? The origin aligns with the info_train_spline_main and follows the spline, but how is the orientation of the script_mover set? (ie. how is the front of the vehicle determined? - or am I the only one who has this problem…)

Script movers should be created facing 0 degrees in radiant, which is pointing to the right in the wonderful world of ET.

Yes, I did miss something very basic…

Thanks for the information :drink:
