Screenshots: Palace Gold

(Prophesy) #1

Edit: Scroll down for new map screenshots posted. Thanks for the help

Got a part of my map ready and wanted to make some screenshots.
This is a real n00b question, but:

Is there an easy way to make more than 1 shot at a time?

Rather than make 1 shot at a time with print screen in ET and then go photoshop and return to ET for another shot?

First screenshots from my map “Palace Gold”.

The Axis are leaving North Africa in a hurry - as the allies are advancing fast towards the last Axis strongholds.

In a palace near a seaport harbour town, axis gold (might change it to something else) is stored, while waiting for transportation to Italy.

To gain entrance to the palace - surrounded by water - allies must move a damagable and repairable boat. Allies must steal the gold and bring it to the end of a long pier where a second boat is waiting.

Ispiration is of course Goldrush - although I might change details such as the gold to something else to make it less like to GR. Ideas are welcome.

Note on the screenshots: The sun does not come from the direction I want it to come. This will be changed.

Also pls note that a little of the far background textures arent really meant to be there :stuck_out_tongue:

wow looking very nice

(Prophesy) #13

Thanks

Chavo_one: Yes, its only a smaller part of the map completed. Lots of work still to be done, although it is going a lot faster than I thought.
And the Palace which I am working on now takes most time, here is where details will be the highest.

Deathmaster: I did nothing extra with the sky. I think I just used battersky (but it could be some other sky too).

It’s looking pretty good so far, I take it that lighting is WIP, not run a -bounce compile yet and not much phong? I’d be inclined to trim tiny slivers off the hard corners on the towers and use a bit of phong shading to make the main part of the structure look more like it’s a surface that’s been rendered in plaster/mud/clay/whatever, the edges are a bit abrupt and artificial at the moment. (Of course I’m probably preaching to the converted and you were going to do something like this soon enough anyway)

I like the pointy arches. The idea for the map sounds cool, you could substitute pretty much anything for the item being shipped off, an archaeological artefact of some kind might be cool. Something with occult significance might fit the Wolfenstein theme, although there’s less of this about in Enemy Terrirtory.

Good points, Shallow.
You were right about the lighting. I didnt compile with -bouce yet. The compile was done in a fast way, since I rather be mapping than waiting for compiles :o)
But to be honest I really am no expert in compiling. A tutorial which explains the different commands and when and why to use them would be very useful. All tutorials I found on this are so very technical :disgust:

I also dont know much about Phong-shading?
I trim parts off from the from the corners and walls? Can you perhaps explain a little more?

Artefact is good idea. Something ancient and powerful the axis found at a faraway desert site and now needs to be protected at every cost. Something that can change the course of the entire war…

It would be nice to hook up with others and make a 3-4 map campaign about this artefact - from its discovery in North African desert ruins to its dramatic shipping to Europe.
