Scene from theme - contest round 5

(Pegazus) #1

This is a playful contest to inspire, help and motivate the community.

Theme on round 5

The Ardennes Offensive ( December '44 - january '45)

It could be for example like:

  • a battle in snow covered woods
  • a small french / belgium village under siege
  • an improvised base camp for the axis or allied team
  • or even a scene from the Band of Brothers series.

Rules:

[ul]
[li]An entry will follow the given theme
[/li][li]Participants make one scene/view/sight of the theme in radiant and post one (1) ingame screenshot of it on this thread
[/li][li]Participants are not allowed to pimp the picture too much in photoshop or such
[/li][li]No limit how many scenes a participant posts
[/li][li]The scene should not be from a released map
[/li][li]You are allowed to boost the screenshots up with players shooting, artillery or such
[/li][li]Winner will decide the theme of the next round. The winner will send a pm with a theme suggestion to me, so we can prevent totally inappropriate themes.
[/li][/ul]

Winner:

Winner will be voted and wins glory and reputation. Winner will also decide the next theme.

Deadline

20.12.2009

When it ends, splashdamage users vote for the winners

Example of making an entry:

If the theme was desert, you could make a little piece of terrain, add a couple palms and post a screenshot of it.

Releasing your work:

It would be really great if you would release your work (map file, models, textures etc.), so other mappers could get help of it. This however is not required.

Hall of Fame

Round 1- winner FireFly
Round 2 - winner Chr1s
Round 3 - winner Chr1s
Round 4 - winner FireFly

Good luck to all who participate.

The scene should not be from a released map
As much as i am aware of, Carentan (For COD) is a released map. Also this competition is mostly about improvising and using photo reference.
If somebody disagrees with my decision be free to do so, we will discuss it and make a final decision.

Edit: Now that i thought about it, Carentan makes it barely through the rules, feel free to take part if you like. My apologizes. :o

Nice work! That terrain texture really fits it. Anyways keep em coming. We’ll cut the deadline when there’s 5 entries. It’s open for now.

only 1 entry by the deadline :frowning: i hope one of my facourite topics won"t die out… ,up, get up, wake it and shake it’’, lol.

(murka) #14

Personally i didn’t like the theme and that time was quite busy, now that i have free time, too late to start anything.

(Avoc) #15

Pretty sure that the deadline will get postponed again =D

(shagileo) #16

Awesomeness needs time :stroggtapir:

(masterkiller) #17

Just for fun and I had free time before Christmas … 2-3 hours

A lot of “spacebar” technik LOL

This is supposed to look like a log cabin on Christmas Day when allied parties but melts a surprise attack Axis!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

(shagileo) #18

That’s actually looking good for 2-3 hours work !

Maybe a bit too many tanks, but meh
Cool entry
