You know… maybe one day people will come to accept the fact that on Publics players can do what they wish unless otherwise stated. Basically, if someone wants to spawn camp then let them. If someone wants to Rambo let them… unless the servers rules and/or admin says otherwise then yeh it is, Public and Open, and providing the player isnt cheating/hacking then its fine. Deal with it tbh… whinging on some forum aint really gonna help change how someone plays… and if anything, a player knowing that it gets on someone’s nerves to do something they enjoy they will keep doing it.

Spammy Fieldops or Rambo Medic? Panzer them.
Spawn camping Panzer? Rifle Gren them… etc.

So unless stated otherwise in the welcome text, it’s ok to spam vsay “Call in artillary” for a whole game? Seriously, many people have fun playing only public servers, and on many servers (e.g. SD) it’s mostly a lot of fun, and you can get quite a bit of teamwork going.

When I’m a dead axis engy near the fueldump after the allies have planted, and our medics run over me without reviving to go spamkill allies, it really pisses me off, and takes away some of the fun for me. If you think you’re too good for pubs and only enjoy clan matches, do the rest of us a favour and stay off the pubs. If you outshoot everybody, it isn’t much of a practice either.

All IMHO of course.

La de dum dum… you know… I swear it is only users of this board that seem to see completely different text from the rest of us or the poster.

For starters:

This is common sense and etiquette. This isnt the way someone plays it is the way they are acting. But tbh, if someone wants to go ahead and waste 30 minutes of there game then let them. Just ignore it or shove on cl_noprint or callvote mute.

I also didnt mention the welcome text. Servers have all different ways of getting rules accross to players be it On Join messages, In Game messages, Emails, Websites or IRC Channels. So long as they are somewhere accessible they apply imo.

Next up:

Not exactly correct to state that your post is in YOUR opinion then say its ME who thinks im too good for pubs? Either you just made that up or thats what you think of me. I cant change that. And lastly:

You’ll find i’ve only played on SD a few nights in the past few weeks (around 4ish?) but im happy enough coming back if you don’t want me too.

Publics are never practice… its just target practice and a laugh. Thats what PCW are for hence why were playing yas on Weds.

Yet even when i’m on public servers, which was exclusively the case, until recently, i try to make the game enjoyable for everyone.I try as well to bring victory to my team, i do my best to win on each and every map. So when a rambo medic screws my effort because he thinks that the dead engies in the base can handle the ticking bomb on the fuel dump while he goes past my agonizing body straight to the tunnels to shoot at a soon to be victorious enemy, you might understand that such a behavior raises frustration as well as dissatisfaction among the teammates that share my point of view. Such a behavior would be obviously fsking up the enjoyment of the game for many players and therefore wouldn’t be acceptable.

Al; Im not defending Ice-T at all… youll know yourself from Q3F or ANY game for that matter that it doesnt really matter HOW it is SUPPOSED to be played. Its the fact that if a player wants to play it THERE way, or at least, play there POV there way, then theres pretty much nothing you can do.

Taking the example mentioned twice… Its a 50/50 situation. Ive played pub games on Efter (> average Euro players mainly) and 3/4 of our team could be lying dead waiting for a revive and the Medic will ignore us. People instantly think ‘fs there ramboing’ but its not as if the revive is ALWAYS more important than the kill(s). Whats to stop say the Medic reviving all 4 and dying before he can fire a shot. That leaves 4 half filled team m8s open to abuse very easily… grenades too. If that Medic rambo’d and killed the player THEN revived…

… then theres the obvious as you said where they just ignore there team completely… thats there problem. If they want to miss the chance of leveling up quicker for the sake of a frag then let them. Big deal if you lose the map… as im always hearing peeps on SD say for example; ‘Its only a game.’ Yep it is, and its ONLY a pub game. Im sure you wont find ignoring Medics in clan games… :]

This tbh tho is up to the server admins to decide what and what isn’t acceptable. From a players point of view just change server.

dudddeee 20 slots on SD server… 10 a side?! pffff make them take it down to 16 slots and I can guarnantee you will have a better game :wink: problem with such large servers is everyone gets in your way in small areas :confused:
