Sawbonez CR81 and BL71

What are your thoughts about those two cards from a competitive point of view ?

I am currently playing ranked usually in 5v5 games with a SM41 loadout (Extra Supplies, Get Up, Untrackable), but I am wondering if there’s better alternatives. I pretty much consider Extra Supplies for Sawbonez as the most important perk for the sake of sustaining the team, but then multiple other perks sounds really interesting to me :

  • Bomb Squad is just lovable when the average player’s mindset is to screw around with Proxies, and being able to see deployables at first glance is pretty great for the team, especially as a supportive role.
  • Potent Packs isn’t great for allies, but very useful for self sustain. I can’t heal shit if I’m dead after all.

Those two loadouts caught my eye for pairing Extra Supplies with one of the two perks mentionned above. What do you think about them ?

honestly i like the BL71 since it has both healing augments and spares, pretty good for not playing too aggresive as a medic

but i still play with the old Crotzni that has drilled and potent packs.
i prefer blishlock tho

Yeah the bl71 is very good, used to run it until I got a gold cr73 and will probably never look back. Crotzni is too good. I would rather get up to potent packs on sawbonez and the cr73 has both.Mechanic can also be useful on EV maps.

Potent Packs has always been a must for me. With that said, the only season 2 cards I ever use are:

  1. SM41
  2. CR73 (I tend to use s1 CR42)
  3. BL71

PS: Potent Packs increases the direct hit instant heal, as well as, HoT rate. Unless I am mistaken.

Big fan of the crotzni one. The amount of times the unshakable saved me is pretty high.

It really depends on what you mean by “competitive point of view.”

In a 5stack vs 5stack with both teams on VOIP, Sawbonez is built to pocket the Primary DPS. To that end, you want perks that help you in that role, which is slinging lead with your Fragger and keeping him up. With this mindset, the CR42g1 is my loadout of choice. (Mine comes with added stylepoints.)

Potent Packs keeps you alive, which keeps your Fragger alive. Drilled is great for lobbing packs to yourself and your Fragger and still getting bullets in your gun to not get caught with your pants down. Focus helps when getting shot, which will probably happen a lot on the frontlines.

The SM41g2 is also excellent for the pocket role, as it has Drilled and Potent Packs, along with Bomb Squad. You miss out on Focus, but have a primary with lower spread, so aimpunch won’t be as much of a factor. (The perks listed in the original post at time of writing are for the SM72g2.)

If you are playing in a less coordinated environment, or are running Sawbonez as a solo or field medic, your priorities should change. Your entire team needs you, rather than just the primary DPS. You should still throw lead, but probably avoid taking as much as possible, looking after your team more. With this mindset, the SM72g2 stands out. Extra Supplies is borderline essential, since you could need to sustain 2-3 teammates and yourself. Get Up means you get more out of your defibs, saving packs and/or allowing you to move onto the next patient/victim faster. Untrackable helps keep you alive, but isn’t as powerful as the other perks.

The CR81g2 can also fill in that role, with Extra Supplies keeping the team alive and Bomb Squad and Unshakeable keeping you alive. It’s not as support oriented, but if you prefer the Crotzni, it’s an option.

I absolutely love the Blishlok, but I don’t see loadouts with it having a place in ranked/competitive. The BL71g2 can fill either of the roles above, but not nearly as well as the other loadouts, due to the nature of the Blishlok. It is better at further ranges than the other SMGs, but isn’t as useful in the close-mid range engagements Sawbonez will normally be in, because of the lower rate of fire.

BL71 is the ultimate answer to all of life’s problems. You can be the most efficient pocket ever with constant strong packs OR you can Rambo medic with the constant good self heals + Spares.

P.S. I’ve been trying the SM83 since I got it from a ranked case and it’s also pretty sweet, Focus and Unshakeable are always great and Quick Draw makes things snappy since the animation to draw the medpack is slow.

BL71 is solid provided you can deal with the Blishlok, CR81 is also pretty good for survival but I wouldn’t rate it over the 42 G1. Badmin sums it up better.
