Sawbonez Builds Unbalanced

(JJMAJR) #1

Here’s something that I said before about the Blishlock. I have recently seen a thread that complained about not getting a Crotzni build several times. In all honesty, I see this as a problem that needs to be solved.
Sawbonez
Sawbonez (Goddamn typos in official content, is that intentional?) has an entirely different problem compared to Bushwhacker. All of Sawbonez’s spellcheck errors Blishlock builds have the weakest buffs for the weapon/class combination. Why?

All Blishlock builds have 2/3 of the augments be combat based, not support based, and only 1 of those builds actually have a healing-focused augment.

Whereas Crotzni builds focus at least a little bit on healing.
This actually means that the Crotzni doesn’t give a specialization for the class and could allow those loadouts to be the Master of All cards for the class.

Meanwhile since the Blishlock isn’t strong in combat, those cards are Masters of None.

The only good possible combat-based augment that would go with the Blishlock would be the Focus augment, due to the effective range for the Blish being higher than an assault rifle, and that still doesn’t validate making the entire card combat-based unless you make it for Bushwhacker, i.e. the BL71. Looter just enables him to spread out more and cover more ground, which is a nicely sized benefit for such an augment.

Here’s a list of loadout switching that I’d recommend for the class:
BL71 and SM72, switching melee weapons on top of that.
BL43 and CR81. Possibly a really powerful combat-based Blishlock build that still supports teammates appropriately.
BL82 and CR73.

Sawbonez needs his builds balanced with each other instead of having three extremely competitive builds (the class is the most versatile medic in ranked and tournaments) and six useless ones.

how about getting rid of the loadout card system?

As far as I know, not that many people actually like it. I personally would enjoy it is crates contained skins just like they do now. I think that this would make Dirty Bomb a much better game in many respects considering that even a little bit of customization for the player can go a long way to improving player experience and overall happiness. I’m not talking about reams and reams of customizations like customizing the length of the barrel, but at least some things like what primary with what secondary and what augments, and maybe that could even lead into mercs being able to choose slight variations of their standard abilities.

IDK, but personally? I like to be able to choose a few things and make my character my own. I don’t understand why Splash Damage feels they need to stay with a system which honestly not that many people like. It limits player choice and the method for getting better skins can be seriously frustrating and time consuming depending on the amount of money you want to spend. I am not trying to sound spoiled and demanding but there must be a better way of doing it. I want to be able to spend money on Dirty Bomb but, with the way the game is now, I hardly ever do.

And in terms of skin variation, just look at overwatch. Why is it impossible to get a little of that?

whew. just my thoughts. I love Dirty Bomb but it does have some annoying features.

See…the way I play DB and a lot of games is I’m sort of a collector…each merc I play I like to have at least a semi-different play style…I have nothing against the Blish or the SMG-9…I just want a Crotzni specifically for him since I have no merc with one.

Like for example…I play Arty with the BR or Dreiss, I play Skyhammer with the M4, and I play Stoker with the Timik…to mix things up and for them to be a little more set apart other than their abilities.

I use a Blish on Phantom and Bushwacker currently…my favorite card for Nader uses the SMG-9…it’s not because I think one or the other sucks on him or anything…I just specifically want a Crotch on Bonez…

Back on topic…he could use some more options…every merc can…but Sparks suffers from this a lot more than Sawbonez does.

-SM72 and CR73 for support
-SM81 and CR42 for combat efficiency
-CR81 and BL71 for hipsters

His loadout choices aren’t THAT bad, there are worse cases of mercs with only 1 or 2 cards that stand far above the rest.

Since were discussing loadouts and Augments… 2 of Arty’s dreiss loadouts have failsafe for some reason.

Also he’s got 4 loadouts with the same melee weapon and Sparks 4 loadoutz with the empire.

Honestly, people fuss over loadouts too much. Augments pretty much don’t effect gameplay at all. The only real dealbreakers about it would be the weapon variety.

S72 needs to become S71.

And Sparks does have this problem a lot worse than Sawbonez, it’s just that I wanted to bring up the topic of loadout unbalance in general. When loadouts are unbalanced, that just means that several loadouts are useless options compared to the good stuff.

In Sawbonez’s case, there’s literally no reason to play Blishlock over Crotzni, and the SMG-9 can only be used on one loadout if the player wants to use the weapon.

In Sparks’s case, she has augments with Cool, which on her type of class is essentially as bad as Try Hard. Aura would be fine with Cool, because her healing ability is extremely defensive.

Sparks also has a ton of combat-focused abilities. Quick Eye is fine, but Double Time and Drilled aren’t good on a class that doesn’t use primary weapons. There’s also an issue of how many speed-based augments the class has, which is a ton. It’s easy to see how hard it is to balance the class, she is only good at reviving people, and when she was really good she also was a sniper, which made Vassili’s job security… nonexistent.

BL81 is really good if you have a mounted MG in the map to play with. Especially if you are expected to take out an extraction vehicle with it.

No bushwhacker build is complete without Lock-On, because without it the turret reacts too slowly for good players to be threatened by it.

Doesn’t bother me as much as none of his Dreiss loadouts have explodewhateveritscalled…except his other weapon choices both have access to it…

Hoping with the second gen maybe they will fix some of these problems…
