Save game lost!

Well thanks for the auto save feature. Too bad I have now lost my 27 hours of character and stats.

Bang up job. I had stuck with this mess of crap since day one, but I am so pissed right now I can’t stand it.

But back ontopic, why don’t you restore from your most recent backup?

wife + kid = I get to play when I can. It’s not often.

Anyway here’s what happened. I went to jump in for a quick match. I was at lvl 18 last night. Steam cloud said it couldn’t sync and something or other, so I tried to relaunch, and again and again. So I said ok, I have a back up, no big deal I will continue without steam cloud.

All of the sudden it started the opening “pick your faction” cinema. “well F*&K that”, I said.

C&P’d my save, re launched, and low and behold it started the opening cinematic AGAIN!??

I tried to run the 2 backups that were in the folder as per Crispy’s thread, same thing happened.

So there ya go.

So there ya go.[/QUOTE]I was having issues with Steam connectivity and Cloud syncing last night at around 0:00 GMT. As you play infrequently you may not have produced many backup files (it sounds like you have two, both of which seem to have been overwritten with the default state).

Another user was able to restore a previous version of the save file that was auto-archived by Windows. It’s certainly worth a try.

Well hopefully there won’t be a next time, but if there is I will try that Crispy. Luckily for me, once I calmed myself by murdering other teams, I still enjoy the living crap out of this game. After a few short hours I was back up to lvl 10, 8 more won’t take that much longer.

Edit** one question for you Crispy…are stats (for the official stat site) tied to save games, or SteamID’s?

The stats are tied to your Steam ID. For example, if you delete all your characters and create a new one, it’ll still have all of your previous stats and pile the new character’s stats on top of those.
