Satchel charges

I am disappointed with satchel charges, they are only vaguely viable if you camp a quiet spot away from the frontline waiting for someone to walk near your charges … in which case you could just shoot em anyway.

The whole system of having to plant the charge like a mine, then stare at it and press F to detonate is too much.

It would be better if you could throw the charge to plant and detonate by staring at it and pressing F … or …

plant the charge like a mine and detonate with a traditional detonator switch(maybe press 5 then G to detonate)

I realise satchel charges shouldn’t be overpowered, but as they are, they are fairly useless and virtually no-one uses them.

An appropriate tweak would be appreciated, to turn this non-option into something a bit more usable and interesting.

The fact that they sound useless on offense is enough for me not to consider them. I would like my characters to be flexible. Switching classes during a match is a must for me. And when sides are imbalanced, I don’t want an incentive to keep it that way (I switch team).

Plant with _activate, trigger with _useGrenade

as it is now, you need to use more then one charge for a kill, and they dont do that much damage to repair bots either…i was disapointed with this as well

What about this: trow the explosives and they arm automaticly within a few seconds.
You need to be in range, and there is also a short delay for detonation (balancing).

For now it takes too much time & effort to use them effectively :o

If it wasn’t for the trophy, I wouldn’t have bothered with them. Why go through all the hassle, when I can kill someone with half a clip of SMG to the face in 1/10th of the time? They would be useful if you could put them on a hack object (say) then detonate from anywhere (locally) when the hacking progress goes up… The fact that they are easy to spot and shoot doesn’t make this overpowered.

cheers … I didn’t realise equip charge + nade button detonated as well … this makes them a bit more useful.

I will have another go at trying to rack up some satchel kills

As for needing more than one charge for a kill … I’m not surprised, the explosion looks like a fire cracker instead of explosive
