ah yes… wonder land is here…
by the way… good job on ur map looks great!

i still need help making crap… cause it takes me 5 hours to create 500 brushes :banghead:

Ok my constructive criticism:
If your map is WWII ish bad news - helicopters weren’t invented then
If that helicopter has landed there its a fucking miracle - how u land a helcopter in between those steel girders
The terrain looks like tetris
Not true. The sikorsky r4 fist flew in 1942, and served late in wwII.

The grermans had flyable helis even before the war.

Focke Wulf 61 flew in 1936:

learn something new everyday
ok modify point 1 - your heli doesnt look like the helis around at time of WW2 - if your map is set in WW2
Guys, there something above the heli too, so that means its impossible to land it. Ever think that it was just built and pulled outside for some finishing touches and not actually ready to fly yet?
Ok. I haven’t said that I am making it(Helicopter) to be middle of contruction. The Helicopter is only at the building stage and haven’t been flying anywhere. This helicopter is suppose to be a new weapon for axis. (I am going to include bombs) so that the all the stuctures does make sense in time the beta comes out.

Yes that I know. I asked a prefab for the heli in this thread http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=31888&highlight=#31888
But I think I have to do it myself.
I have decided to learn the art of phong because criticism of the terrain. there are wrong textures there any way. BTW I learned to place trees and plans on blocky areas. Especially where the verticles meet so you get a nice shadow and the object blocks the view to blocky part.
Nah sod phong for the minute just make your terrain matrix smaller.
Are u using Easygen?
The textures can be worked around in the metshader bu its just that the terrain looks too blocky and pointy - add more triangles (increase the matrix) to smooth out some of the landscape.
Are u using Easygen?
Nope I made everything by hand using Gtksurf or what is it called (You know what I mean) I have created a flat terrain and edited it by moving vertices up and down and texturized it in radiant using no alpha map.
I can use Easygen now, but I am not going to use it with this map.
So I want to learn phong anyway.
hmm well id use easygen - think it would really make the map look quality - may take a bit - but generate tracemap to assist in alphamap
thats if u decide to use it
ROFL :bump:
I didn’t ignore your post
Looks good seven_dc. Do you plan on adding any fog (maybe to simulate a dusty atmosphere)? or if it’s there, thickening it? Or maybe a sand storm via atmoshperics?
EDIT: scrap the sand storm idea, just remembered, the only supported atmospherics is rain and snow…for some reason I was thinking you could maybe change the color of what’s falling
me = n00b. :disgust:
I have no idea why the word sod is in there, so maybe i am taking what you mean wrong, but phong does NOT make your terrain matrix smaller. Its named after the Japanese guy who invented this method of shading to make sharp curves look smoother. It does NOT make your terrain matrix smaller, instead it works with shading to make curves and edges look more rounded. It does NOT make your terrain matrix smaller. (Am I clear on this yet?)
I think he was trying to say, “don’t phong for now, just make your matrix smaller”. I don’t think he was trying indicate Phong makes your terrain matrix smaller. I don’t think he was trying indicate Phong makes your terrain matrix smaller. I don’t think he was trying indicate Phong makes your terrain matrix smaller.

Great idea! I have battery fog there now but I shall make it to be like there is sand in the air. And the skybox shader could be something more orginal.
I dont think you can change the weather effect easilly. So no weather effects for my map.
I am thinking that I will publish the map source with the map, because I want that others can learn too. Am I nice ?
Oh stop being so bloody patronising and pedantic.
If you find the word sod to dificult to understand replace it with:
happy now
New pics for you:

Entrance to bunker.

You can see a glimpse of command post!

A way to the axis heli.

A bird view to the way.

Nice… sand
Oooh - looking quite nice
Fog works well there.
Did you change the terrain at all?
Thank you.
No. I just adjusted the vertexes to make it more round, played around with the light and used the phong shading.
