safe_malloc exceeded in -meta stage

Well, basically I’m getting a safe malloc error on my meta stage - only of 8 bytes, but I don’t know how to get around the problem. I have converted a lot of brushwork into ase models as I kept running into the max_map_verts error, and now it seems I’ve hit another barrier. Can anyone clue me in to any possible solutions? (P.S This isn’t a terrain map with loads of triangles, its just a very big map with lots of areas and a fair amount of detail.)

That sounds like a too large map to me… try to reduce the complexity of your map (like making the terrain a little bit less detailed etc.)

Alternatively you can try the -lowmem parameter when compiling. Maybe that helps.

Do you mean “-lomem”?

If so that’s only for the light phase. He was asking about the BSP phase.

Sorry for the long response time guys.

Anyhow, the problem seems to be linked to the large number of ASE models I have goin in the map, problem is, If I take them out I end up with a MAX_MAP_VERTS error instead. I’ve been looking into the possibility of editing the source code to make q3map allow a higher number of verts we hgelp from a friend, but we’re not sure if JKA has a higher vert limit than q3map2, and was wandering if anyone has any idea, or if they can shed any further light on the original error?

Oh, yeah, and ACROBAT is right, there’s no -lomem switch for the meta stage.

well i just signed up for machinima and it looks pretty cool. but is there like a software you download to make these vdieos. or do you have to use your own software or dowload one.
