Rubber banding / Teleport lag

(Mokthen) #1

Hello,

Since i think 1-2 weeks i really started noticing alot of rubber banding / teleport lag ingame. My ping is usually around 12-30 so that doesn’t seem to be the problem and I also tested for any packet losses on my end and it showed 0%.

I’ve asked other people ingame and they also seem to have the same problem or see me rubber banding / teleporting all over the place. Does anyone has any idea how to fix this? Because it is getting rather frustrating, sometimes i can barely walk trough a door or I fall down from the tubes in Underground for example because of this lag. The game is barely playable sometimes

Once again it doesn’t seem to be on my end, so I have no clue where it is coming from…

I have come across things like this for me and other people in the server. I’ve always it put it down to server side because it will happen more often around maintenance or when there has been a server and client side update.

It does seem to have gotten worse after the Phoenix update for me.

The game runs the same for me as it’s always ran. But, as always after these updates, there are always reports of Onyxia Deep Breathing more often than normal.

If you’re getting rubberbanding but other people on the server are not and you are at the ping you say with no packet loss…my next thought is a hardware related issue. Specifically heat. I’ve seen it multiple times where a processor has crossed it’s heat threshold and would start trying to quickly clock itself down. Recently a friend of mine installed a Haswell 4790 proc and he was playing Call of Juarez and the game was rubberbanding like you describe. It didn’t do it in a few other games. Found out that during Call of Juarez his processor was hitting 100c and it was clocking itself down for safety which caused the rubberbanding.

So make sure it’s not something like that happening to your system. I recommend Open Hardware Monitor since it’s free and doesn’t include adware.

Hey,

Thanks for the info but the temperature of my CPU stays around 60-70 and the GPU around 50. I’m gaming on a laptop btw (MSI GS60) so the heat is normal i believe?

Just in case the specs:
Intel Core i7 4710HQ 2.5 Ghz (Turbo 3.5 Ghz)
16 GB RAM
Nvidia Gefore GTX 970M 3GB

I actually have had this happen a lot lately, but it might be because I switched to 4G dongle connection.
When it hits, it’s like the server is suddenly unsure of my exact position, and it starts moving my character back and forth, and all over the place.
