Rovaniemi Farm Beta 1

Map Description:

The axis forces are retreiving in Northern Finland and They have
Their field office at the town called Rovaniemi. Finland
freedom fighters are raiding the nearby farm and are trying
to steal the Truck and Explosives that axis are keeping in the town.

Axis will have their hands full defending the Explosives and the Truck.

Objectives Allies:

  1. Steal the truck from axis farm
  2. Escort the truck into and through the town
  3. Steal the explosives into truck
  4. Build command post

obviously not your first map.

I only ran thru the map to see how to play it, as you may know there are a few small bugs. One end of the pond the water texture disappears. If I play thru it again I will let you know more. oh yeah, I don’t know if you wanted it this way…but the model in the town square is not solid. nice fog

Darn, when you said “farm” I pictured something a little less snowy. Oh well. I’ll about to take a run through it.

Thanks you for kind words. This is not my first map as you have guessed. And I know that there are several bugs in the map, but they are just cosmetics and do not hurt gameplay.

The bugs I am aware of:

  • The road is not allways connected to the ground.
  • The ruck is not allways connected to the ground or goes inside of ground.
  • The water ends weird near the bank.
  • The water aren’t affected by the fog.
  • you can wander up to hills and see the end of the world.

:smiley: Well the stock maps has those weird names too. So I go with the flow.

Finland is covered with snow and we do have farms here. btw

Heh… well that actually covers a lot of the glitchy things I found. It was a little hard for me to figure out to push the button to enable the truck to get into town, since there were no instructions to specifically do so. Also, some of the buildings are also “floating.” And it’s strange that the bridge (which is really lovely if I do say so myself) has no snow on the top of it. It sort of doesn’t fit in.

I guess you forgot to include some models in the .pk3 (or maybe you forgot to place them in the map), because in at least one of the houses there are lamps giving off light without lightbulbs.

In terms of gameplay… I could find no bugs, but I suppose it needs to be tested properly. :smiley:

It is actually “hakkaa p???lle pojat!” and means like attack boys!

Ok how would the button stand out? TOI and maybe a objective camera and text.
The bridge is made by Mean MR Mustard… hmm forgot him from the readme. Noo-oo sorry mustard I am ashamed. Actually Mustard made the truck entities too. So big thanks to him!

The buildings tent to float because I tweak the terrain. :smiley: just need to check those out. Actually I have made very bad thing. I decompiled the radar and made the farm buildings from the brushwork from the little hut. just tweaked them, added windows, retextured etc. to make them suitable for my needs. I know I am bad but I could not help myself.

Yeah those lights… I think they do not have lightbulbs… what model has the lamp and the bulb?

EB, I think it means Come on guys, forward!
The first word, hakkapäle, is some sort of Finish war-cry. (confer: Japan, “Banzai!”)
But, Im just a Swede, and as you know Swedish and Finish are two different languages.
I do know some Finish words: Äjti (“mother”), paska! (“damn”, all players from Finland write that when they loose), and torpa kini (“shut up”).
Oh, the map? I haven’t tried it yet - but I know it must be good since seven only does great stuff.

for the button…use a trigger brush and make it a func_invis_user or toi…hmmmm…needs to be on command map(my opinion) so toi is good, or the otherway with command map marker.

I think you have to add them, there isn’t a model with both. :frowning:

Instead of focusing the limbo camera on the barrier you could focus it on the button, so you wouldn’t have to create a new camera. And you must have done a good job with the Radar buildings, because I didn’t notice they were from Radar at all. :smiley:

I’ve had a quick run through.
And I think the button for the barrier could be a problem in game.
I think it would be easier if it would be like in Railgun the barrier at the switch.

Oh yeah… that’s the sort of thing I was looking for at first. Then I heard a sound, and figured I had to disable a generator or something, but I was never able to figure out what the generator sound was coming from. ^^

You could also put the button on the command map, that would definitely work.

There is no combined model. You have to add a (uncaged) cagelighta.md3 to your pendant10k.md3. The pendant model you used also emmits light via shader - make sure, that the lightentity colour is the same, as defined in the shader.

Btw, why Rovaniemi Farm ? Wouldn’t it be enough with just Rovaniemi plain and straight ? After all most of the action will take place inside the little town rather than out on the farm (I guess from the way the truck travels).
