Rough Shadows

Hi

I’m beginer with q3map2 so excuse me. I’m worknig on my new map in q3map2. Q3map2 brougt a lot of cool features for level designing. Now I have problem, my map is quite dark and - that’s the problem, when I put some light “outdoor” shadows are very rough. How can I this fix? :banghead:

The best place to ask anything, would be in the forums of http://www.quake3world.com

You can try several things to brighten up your map. Most mappers use lots of small lights, instead of large ones. Also, you can set sunlight parameters for a large outdoor light.

Add q3map_sun or q3map_skylight <amount> (ex: q3map_skylight 80 3) to your sky shader.

Or make a spotlight (entity light targetted at a info_null) with a “_sun” “1” key to make an entity sun.

Sun/entity sun light values should be < 255 to avoid oversaturation of the values (jagged shadows).
