Well, I spent every night since release up until Monday night playing and got a card for the one merc I’m unlikely to play of the four. And that was only because I gave up and burned the last of my credits to stack a full 10 boosters since 5 wasn’t helping one bit. Essentially, all I have to say is I’m done with cosmetics in Dirty Bomb until something radically changes.
I’ll still play. But fuck loadout cosmetics. Unappealing to grind for, unappealing to buy elite cases. I keep thinking the approach has changed with these events, but each event it turns out to be exactly the same highly rare event cards. That would be fine if there were other skins available.
“Cosmetics are optional” - 100% yes. But they’re also the main money maker for f2p games, surely? Hence I’ve complained so loudly and often about it. But I’m now at the point where I won’t play during the event for the incentive of skins. It’s far, far too rare/costly in credits to actually get one. If I play during the event, it’s just because I love the damn game. For me, player’s with this mentality (assuming it’s not just me!) - It’s not exactly a “lose” for the game, but it’s definitely not a win either.
As @convincingMollusk said the drama around these cases has been the only real issue with this event, and it’s gotten in the way of how amazing the lore, concept and event itself actually are. The last two events had their own stink around the loadout cosmetics too - really, perhaps it’s time to rethink things? Perhaps something is in the works with cosmetics, but if so, I’d really love to hear that this is at least on the table. The impression I get is just that it’s a vocal minority and everything is fine, so things will stay as is - overpriced overRNGd elite cases or the RNG-Case-Olympics.
