RNG and Economy

(HammerOfDawn21) #1

First of all the amount of RNG in this game is too high. It shouldn’t be this high at least for expert/elite cases and special edition cases.

While this RNG may attract players who don’t mind spending $100.00 every other week, this discourages players who may spend little whenever they can but would definitely do so if they know what they are getting provided the price is right, which is also the majority of the player base.

It would be much better if they ditched the RNG altogether but for some good reason SD is reluctant, So a middle ground has to be met.

What I would suggest is similar to something that is used in Gwent. Reduce the drop rates of gold and cobalt a little (very little) for expert and elite cases but every case presents you with three cards from which you can choose one. This should take care of the duplicates as well.

Cobalts would have been the dope thing to have in 2016, but 2017 brought us more skins than you could have expected. This has devalued cobalt cards, some of the special edition skins look better than cobalt, so crafting one seems obsolete.

My suggestion is to animate cobalt cards or at the very least add exclusive sound effects/ new voice lines to cobalt and obsidian cards.

There is a lot of things SD could sell without breaking the balance. Weapon customization shouldn’t be a thing, it leads to P2W whining and inadvertently adds P2W element to the game. SD can sell new voice lines, stickers for guns (like trinkets, only much better), tattoos for Mercs.

These are my suggestions for changing the game’s current system without breaking it entirely. I don’t have a degree in economy so I may be wrong on all accounts.

Other cosmetics like you mentioned could be a good alternative or primary source of revenue for them which may lead to better event case/skin pricing. Beyond that, I don’t really have much to add. I’m pretty drained about the subject lately. I do think they’ll make some positive changes eventually; they arguably already have even though it’s been subtle things here and there. The complaints and suggestions have gotten louder after each event. That said, I feel like too many people are overlooking how great this year has been for the game overall compared to last year. Just stick to bronze loadouts if you don’t like it, folks. That’s what I do unless there’s something I really want.

Sure it’s better, but anything is better than absolutely nothing. I just don’t understand why they keep rolling with something the community hates so much, when they could probably make more money if they changed the system and properly implemented it.

I do love this game and want it to succeed, but some things I just don’t get.

As long as they don’t pull another shell shock where you have to grind to get boosters to even possibly get a guaranteed case. And you can’t buy or get any 2% cases as they didn’t exist since they had the dumb pick-an-eye case in place. They should’ve had separate cases for boosting the eye percentage and for shell shock cases, but it’s too late for that now.
Just a little rant for that event since that was the only one where I got no SE with it’s terrible system. They almost did that for Halloween with the insanely high case cost, but good thing they reinstated purchasable cases.

Let’s don’t forget it’s free to play game, and first game I’ve ever seen without Pay2Win item shop.

Look at this MMORPG placed in galaxy universe, first you need to buy the subscription, then you need tot buy some items separately in itemshop.

Anyway, back to DIrty Bomb.

All you get exra are skin, and in my opinion, it’s pretty fun to grind, and finally get unique skin to show off later on server.

It wouldn’t be so special if anyone could get the skin with perfect lodout.

I opened 40 cases so far (Jackal’s Eve) and didn’t get any special card, I’m fine with it, howver I would change one thing:

Once you get SE card from random drop, you should be able to pick one out of few cards, so you won’t end up with another Rhino card.

Imo, they need to either give us single merc cases, or preferably drop the whole loadout system.
It’s just not fun getting a cool skin with a loadout you’ll never use, or for a merc you don’t even own.

That’s why perfect solution would be to upon drop SE card or even silver+ to pick one card out of few available. Let’s say 4 random cards.

Guess I’ll use the same example as yesterday: https://imgur.com/h5oP1X3

What would you rather spend money on :#

Whatever ‘thing’ is on the left is not worth a penny.

I’ll say this everytime this subject come up : separate skins from the loadout system. It’s sad that designers made skins that barely no one except new players will use. Yes, im talking about the default, lead and iron skins. The default guardian skin is really good looking, but without some augments, you’ll feel really weaker.

Remember that shitty ass Angry Joe video about how Dirty Bomb is pay to win? The one that put Dirty Bomb on the gamer shit list and probably drove away thousands of potential players?

If you sat down most reasonable people and explained to them how the Dirty Bomb skin / loadout system works? Honestly? The reaction probably would’ve been fairly similar. Cause I’ve already done that before, and my friend’s reaction was, “why are you playing that piece of shit?” That’s coming from a guy who plays Korean mmopergers.

I still see new players rage quit during matches and say ‘have fun with your P2W game and yada-yada’ from time to time. I don’t like pandering to morons and holding hands, but SD should probably consider adding a tutorial or on-screen prompt in the menus that clearly, BOLDLY states that everything beyond bronze is purely cosmetic. The little message we have on the loadout screens clearly isn’t enough.

Angry Joe’s DB video makes me cringe.

There is a whole “tutorial” on how loadout works and what gives you power and what doesn’t when you go from level 1 to 4. Problem is, people don’t read it or choose to ignore it, despite having read it.

Just make a new smurf account and play a game or two to experience the new user experience, it’s quite interesting in my opinion as it has massively changed over the course of time.

You’re implying that anyone would want to spend money on either

The correct answer is: No

That’s why Warframe is actually a succesfull game?

Buying character skins, decorations, weapon skins and color palets (which can be applied to every part of your character and ship interior) is a business model I would take any day over sd’s crap loadouts and ‘skins’.
