riot sheild speculation

(BiigDaddyDellta) #1

So from the looks of it the new riot sheilds will be a bottom attachment, do you think since they will be rather weighty they should act as a stabilizer as well? I do, maybe not as much as a grip but it would def affect recoil if done properly. What do you think?

No flaming or game bashing please

I’m unsure what you meant but I’d like to add that if you think that your recoil will be decreased, I think that you are thinking too realistically. The most that the shield will do is cause your opponent to run out of ammo quicker while allowing you to take shots at them everytime they reload.

What im saying is it will replace your front girps, so should the weight of a heavy “sheild” give your shots more stability.

hm. in the other thread i thought the shield was a buff. kinda logical though thats its an attachment.

anyways.

it must have some effect on the weapon attributes. it should not have any impact on player attributes, like health, movement speed…

so, what does a riot shield do other than reducing damage, which it cant, coze, there is no damage reduction attribute for the weapons. i just dont think it will act like a passive dmg reduction for balancing reasons.

maybe it removes recoilt completely when ironsighting? maybe its impossible to receive headshots when ironsighting with it?

hm. i dont know. looking at the screenshots i must say that i dont like the idea of a riot shield at all.

Not sure what the take cover part is but yes, it will negate any bonus damage caused by headshots.
The cons will more than likely include a combination of decreased accuracy, equip speed, reload speed and stability.

From Brink DLC Details and Stats Site Update:

New Weapon Attachments

[ul]
[li]Bayonets – Gain the edge in melee combat and cause extra damage with these deadly blades.
[/li]> [li] Weapon Shields – Take cover from enemy fire and prevent headshot bonus damage behind riot-style shields.
[/li]> [/ul]

Anyway, I agree with Nexolate that there will be a bunch drawbacks to the shield as it seems to provide a huge benefit.

As for the “take cover” part, I think that would come into effect when you use the “iron sights” button. Maybe you can’t aim as well but you take much less damage?

A riot shield would add weight, weight adds stability… so I would think the riot shield would up the stability a smidge.

Obviously, with weight, you lose mobility, so equip speed and reload speed make sense to be lowered.

I can’t think of any logical reason that the weight of the shield would affect accuracy, since attachment weight doesn’t seem to factor in for any other attachments.

But, I could be wrong~

though truth weight reduces recoil, because it holds the weapon down from kicking and recoil, BUUUT it also makes a weapon much harder for the holder to handle, i wouldnt be surprised if it lowered stability. i do kno i will be powning.

Suppressors actually increase accuracy and decrease felt recoil, while making the gun more quiet and have no real downsides. But, this is a game, and has to be balanced. Decreasing stability and making the gun take an hour to pull out seems as good a place to start as any.

yeah true true, suppressors lower muzzle velocity though…

fun little things they are, i have one registered that i made from my lawn mowers muffler

The only silencers that actually reduce muzzle velocity are integral suppressors that replace the barrel of a gun. Normal suppressors that you have to attache to the end of the gun do not, which is why you have to use sub-sonic ammunition to avoid the supersonic crack that most rounds have. (Other than rounds, like the .22LR or .45 ACP, which are already sub-sonic)

Edit: In fact, the increased “barrel length” can sometimes increase velocity a tiny bit.
