Rhino, why is he annoying overpowered (In some peoples minds) I dont think he is op but others do.

I personally dont think he is op but i know why others do.
For a fact, his minigun is annoying (You have to admit that) but not OP. I can kill a rhino using the minigun with the remburg no probs.
He has an insane amount of HP to the point where almost 2 tolen mags can kill him. (Like a mag and a half without the rhino being healed)
and besides that nothing else makes people rage. Although i do have to say, Rhino is annoying but not Over Powered. If you know how to jump around and hide you can kill them easily. Who agrees?

Honestly, when it comes to class spam, Rhino is the worst

3 Rhinos on a team is a freaking nightmare to deal with

(MiracleofSound) #3

@Watsyurdeal that is completely true

(deadshotwild) #4

I believe he accomplishes what he was made for be really really really difficult to kill like a tank. But normally he is not op for the most part unless like the other post the whole team picks him.

(MiracleofSound) #5

@deadshotwild I agree completely. I think he is balanced enough to be fair.

One Rhino is fine, more is really tedious. Multiple merc of the same kind in one team is oftenly really unfun and this is especially true with Rhino. However, I don’t think he needs a change, as explosive mercs can make really short work of him (and the Aura stuck as his butt at the same time) : attacking him from angles is the trick, this is why Nader and Fragger are the most suited merc to fight against him. A Vassili can also be very effective, but needs line of sight.

On the paper, if a full Rhino team appears, expect it to loose against a full Nader team, heh.

In my case, I usually take down Rhinos with Fletcher : it’s a bit harder than with Nader on the paper, but I am much more used to him, and I can instantly down him with two stickies on the butt. If I place a third one, I can directly gib him.

We had 2 Rhinos on enemy team last night and they just mow down the crowds. Not particularly op but like mentioned here it’s tedious to deal with. If they have healers then it’s force that is very hard to be stopped.

I play Rhino sometimes and without a healer he is on the weak side. Explosives or even minimal amount teamwork and he is done.

Yesterday I had a game - defending first objective on Bridge. I hung around the usual sweet spot for Rhino. We had 3xSawbonez on our team, but not a single one was near the EV to support me (srsly…). So yeah, they repaired the EV pretty quickly. Without a medic it’s easier to block that entrace with Nader than Rhino.

Only on the last objective someone switched to Aura and one Sawbonez discovered his healing abilities. Effect = Godlike on Rhino.

On paper I’d expect them to loose against anything really.
A full Rhino team has exactly 2 advantages. High overall HP and closequarter dominance. And a ton of disadvantages. Slow objective clearance, zero longrange capabilities, no explosives, and overall slow movement.

They need the higher HP since they have to wait longer for their reinforcments, but an enemy with 1 or 2 medics will nullify the HP advantage.
Kira, Arty, Vassili, Skyhammer would make traversing through openspaces and longranges a nightmare. And as you pointed out the mercs with the explosives Nader, Fragger, Fletcher, heck even Proxy would very well contest the close quarter dominance.

Only way they could win is that the map is mostly in their favour (bridge, canal) and the enemy lemming in one by one.

2-3 Rhinos on the other hand are alot more complicated to get by they still bring their strength but now have teammates that compensate their weaknesses.

But thats all on paper talk. In the end the deciding factor is most likely teamwork and individual playerskill.

Totally. I always stick around Rhino (if there is one) when i am on Sawbonez and it’s kinda fun to observe. If he is brainless then there is no help but if he understands he needs to hide a bit as well (to let HP recharge) then it works extremely well.
This might be the issue. If you don’t have healer as Rhino then you’re certainly not weak or useless but you are not OP at least. If you have healer that focuses you, you mow down whole crowds and suddenly you are more than considerable force on the battlefield. Not that easy to deal with really.

(Indefinite) #11

I would think if many people thought Rhino was OP, you’d see lots more people playing him.

(MarsRover) #12

Well, before I played him I thought his minigun is so powerful. Turns out if the target must be really close, otherwise it just tickles. It certainly looked worse from the receiving end.

And 3 Naders and 3 Bushwhackers.
