Rhino takes too little skill for how much of an impact he has on pub games.

I’m finding Rhino to be quite annoying, but not insanely OP. Mainly because he is the only Merc in the game that can kill you the moment you turn a corner, giving you no chance to react or retreat.

Getting one-shot shotgunned coming around a corner is FAR more annoying and prevalent. Not to mention his mini-gun is an ABILITY. Proxy mines, grenades, stickybombs etc can all do exactly the same thing when you come around the wrong corner too fast.

Said it before and will say it again. Rhino is a litmus test for bad players. If your team is crap and or you are crap, Rhino will roflstomp you.

If you have even a semblance of a clue, he’s easy pickings.

Especially since so many people have no idea how to play him. They’ll come charging out in the middle of a street holding down mouse one thinking their invincible.

He’s a glass cannon, not a tank.

Plus, once they release Thunder, he’ll be even easier to deal with.

Only if he’s already spinning his minigun. In which case you can hear him a mile off.

A thousand times this…

He’s not a major threat.
with nitro Aug Rhino can walljump in your face, spinning mid-air and shredding you upon landing.
I tried warming up the minigun midair like in TF2, but it doesn’t seem to work for me. :frowning:

If you want an advantage over Rhino, you should
A) Take him on from a distance (Skyhammer, Kira, and Arty are good choices for this).
B) Aim for the head, as it’s significantly easier to hit with how slow he is.
C) Flush him out with explosives (Fragger, Nader, and Fletcher are good choices for this).
D) Realize that he’s supposed to be good at killing since he’s lumped into the Assault Merc category with Fragger and Nader.
E) Realize that a turtlish, campy person like Rhino can be hard-countered by the exact same strategy as countering Aura players on their healing stations.

It’s harder to play Rhino than you think. While I can kill mostly everyone who insists on taking me on up close in some games, there are other games where I literally can’t do anything. He’s a one-trick pony, best at shutting down chokepoints. Because of this, I choose Fragger over Rhino any time for more serious matches.

just start firing. you can’t jump when warmping up, so you can’t warmup mid-air either; but you can start firing mid-air

Rhino is just a big box of free points tbh.
