Rhino *sigh*

So is it just me who think his OP? He may be balanced by that its easier to shoot his head but with 200 health and a MINIGUN that kills you in less then 2 seconds (depending on how close you are, most times you will be pretty close).
I don’t see that much how he is balanced. 9/10 times he kills me and the other 1 time is just when hes low or with his shotgun or just really bad (I think his minigun shouldn’t be able to be deployed the whole time just give it a limited time till he uses his shotgun again).

Yeah, it’s just you.

Good to know

He can be demolished at range with anybody with long ranged weapon, blown up by almost every single explosive there is, because he’s too slow to dodge (if you use them correctly in the first place, looking at you fraggers who don’t cook their nades), being a giant sniper target, and if you’re good enough, out strafe the rhino’s aiming.

I can probably infer that you’re one of those people who like to rush head first into angles with a lighter shotgun class, which isn’t wrong, but rhino’s your hard counter.

Pick up somebody who can deal with him.

tl;dr git gud

Minigun will kill low-health mercs in way less than one second, assuming all the bullets hit. Which is rare, even at close range, but even then you’re unlikely to survive as much as a full second if you try to attack him up close from the front.

If you come at him from behind while his minigun isn’t spinning, your odds improve - but only if you can do consistent headshots. If you attack him at range, he needs to GTFO or die. Pistols will do the job, even.

It only becomes a problem if he has an Aura literally following him around. In those cases, you either need teamwork, or the right tool for the job. Explosives are an example of the right tool. It only becomes relevant on a few maps, though ( Bridge, Underground ), as it he’ll be too exposed on most of them.

Rhino requires team work, a lone Rhino can’t do much of anything.

(Badger_Commander) #8

I sympathise, if you get hit by a warmed up minigun you drop in no time but as other’s have suggested there are weakness’ and you have to be careful about how you approach.

If he’s looking your way then get the hell out of there. Sometimes you’re unlucky but often you’ll have to time to find some cover. I have taken out rhino’s with Aura at medium-close range before, if you can flank then they’re very vulnerable and the slow turn speed means that flanking has a good chance of success.

(titaniumCrouton) #9

he’s fine but I still wish he would get some work done. Just because he has two extremes: He will either dominate your entire team, or he is completely useless/ignorable/laughable. I wish the poor guy had some middle ground so i could play him more

Nader, nader, nader, five granades all around,
And a rhino turns into a splatter on the ground!

As for rhino, I consider it a defensive merc first and foremost. Someone that can keep a choke point bottled down, and becomes rather rubbish trying to achieve anything else.

Well, a rhino can succeed in a more active role if there is a sawbones pumping out those health packs. (Rhino acts as the general meat shield for the medic.)

(SaulWolfden) #11

Rhino pretty much requires Aura or another medic to support him if he’s going to wreak havoc for more than like 10 seconds.

(watsyurdeal) #12

In my time playing this game, the only time I’ve found him hard to deal with was when he’s on a healing station.

Other than that he’s not that bad, just learn how to peek him or edge him, so the minigun bullets can’t hit you, but you have clear sight at his head.

(ttownjoe) #13

of all the mercs in the game i have the highest kd ratio over enemy rhinos than any other merc, so no he is not overpowered. From range, kira accuracy and weapons, from close fletcher stickies to soften up. Hes so slow he is easily to deal with 9.5 time out of 10, just stay moving and hit him a burst at a time, usually he wont even be able to damge you. If rhino is corner camping and you dont have an explosive… easy just go a different way.

(Stormrage) #14

Same as with Phantom, once you learn to beat him he’s a non-issue. Just a big target you need some range on.

(efficientCookie) #15

Any explosive class can take him down, or ranged class. Even Sparks reviver can destroy him, just make sure not to get infront him because as you mentioned his minigun wrekcs, but then again that’s why he’s pretty balanced

K guys i understood no need to post over here no more
