Rewards for leveling v2

I know there has been threads about this, and if I was gonna use either of those threads, it would be necroing, so I am going to open new one!

Anyways, rewards for leveling aren’t good as we all know, free lead card and iron card every 5 levels isn’t gonna help us much.

I do not ask for expert case, nor anything…

In this thread I am just gonna ask, either hide levels cause I am getting abused on my first game of the day, in morning, when I just woke up, and am still first on standings in team… But no, coming from teammate: “our high levels were sh*t this game, that’s why we lost” - not to mention he was second highest level in team, so he was referring to me.

Anyways, if I am gonna get a case for leveling, and listen to such things every time I play worse than I usually do, I would rather if I don’t get any levels!

Let’s face it, as level 40+, I got 40+ cases for leveling, but it is nothing compared to being abused like that! (this example was from today (my first game after a week or so), and it wasn’t that harmful)

So I am here to ask either for levels to be hidden or for better rewards for leveling (e.g. 3000 credits)…

Sorry if anyone is disagreeing or anything, but I can’t stand this anymore.

I just want levels hidden. They serve no purpose.

Idc about rewards, maybe something notable every 10 levels if we really want to push it.

Why wouldn’t one asking for expert cases ? Those could actually be a decent reward for levelling up IMO.

Just suggesting very quickly some kind of reward table for level ups. We could imagine something like this :

  • Level 2 : 12k credits (does not change).
  • Level 3 : two special cases with a bronze loadout for Skyhammer and Aura.
  • Level 4 : 12k cerdits.
  • Every five levels : Expert Case (A, B or C).
  • Every 10 levels : Elite Case (A or B ).
  • Other : 1 normal cases.

Credit boosters or special trinkets could also be given as a level up reward by the way…

Now about the hiding level thing : I do think it could actually be helpful to at least show an option to choose to hide or not your own level. Other user’s reactions about you level can be extremely annoying. I’m just level 20 and I didn’t encountered some bad behaviours toward my level yet (I guess I am lucky or I don’t play enough), but if I were at a higher level I think I wouldn’t stand a whole drama thrown just because I play more than average.

yes we could get bigger prize every 5/10 lvls

after all, level shows no indication of actual skill so, they are kinda pointless. I would like splash damage to do something about level rewards, but it is SOO difficult with the loadout card system.

maybe they could implement level systems for each individual merc, say up to 50 levels or something. Every 5-10 levels the play is rewarded with a new version of the ‘stock’ loadout cards that come with each merc. For instance, say on thunder, After you rank up to level 10, you are rewarded with a new stock loadout card to use. This would include a changed primary, secondary, and melee weapon. Perhaps some of these stock cards could even include augments. To be clear, none of these stock loadout cards would have skins, they are just to reward players for playing a single merc for a certain amount of time. They have to make money and i think this would be a good way of rewarding players with free stuff without giving away skins. This way they aren’t just giving away elite cases or something.

idk just a thought.

I want them hidden, but they don’t need to remain useless/be removed outright. Many games give you a profile level that gates various unlocks or incentives for playing. Right now they’re just salt-bait in games.

@Eox I think it was changed so that you get 24k credits at level 4 instead of the level 2.

I just want merc levels back. Let us max them at 10 or 15 and leave it at that. Attach some sweet stuff to leveling them all up individually. Then raise the level during big events and attach more sweet stuff. Gets rid of the, “OMG YOU’RE LEVEL 70” and a lot of the “imbalanced” issues while providing everyone with rewards for grinding. And you can still take a glance at the team to see what experience level they might be at for those who like that. Win/Win/Win.

Levels are pointless. I think that it would be an amazing idea to add incentive to level up, Just some credit or some elite cases :D. @Amerika What is the deal with leveling up a merc?

Before the game moved to Steam each merc had a level cap of 10. You got incentives for leveling them up and I think you got all their taunts when you hit level 10. I think account level might still have been shown but I’m not sure (somebody correct me who played longer here).

I’d like to see account levels be viewable by the player only, bring back merc levels and add neat incentives for leveling each one up and then once or twice a year raise the merc max levels during events and give out some new incentives for achieving max levels for each merc or all mercs. It gives people something to grind for, a way to constantly update the game with little effort, makes a lot of the issues with account levels goes away but still lets you gauge experience quickly in a pub/pug.

I’ve been pitching that idea for a while now but I haven’t gotten any dev response on it. I honestly think it makes perfect sense and has little downside unless you absolutely LOVE showing off your account level for whatever reason. And in that case it could simply be an optional thing to hide or show (like what Rocket League does).

Maybe they will use it as a feature for the proper “launch” of DB. Maybe they thought it was too much work for it’s value. Maybe they had some technical issue they couldn’t overcome easily and scrapped it. I have no idea honestly.

Anything would be better than the current system.

Something along the lines of?

lvl 5: random bronze card for that specific merc
lvl 10: random silver card for that specific merc
lvl 15: random gold card for that specific merc

Anyway I definitely agree with the lvl per merc system.

No compensation can make up for that. It has to be ignored. Personally I like to ignore it while going shotgun Aura. :slight_smile:

But I wanted to input on level rewards.
I would suggest a level elite crate (containing a full roster, no a+b divide,) every level, starting from 15.
Initially it might sound like a lot, but let me give a comparrison. I am currently at about 40, and already have most loadouts (as in all of them) in bronze or better(!), and that is a lot, so compared to the amount I would have gotten from level rewards and their rng nature the reward dwindles. But it still would give me a nice little something to grind for…a little bit of extra shininess.

Yeah, they could do all kinds of stuff. Specialized skins/loadouts, trinkets, new taunts, titles…you know, fun stuff that people would like and wouldn’t take SD a ton of effort. It creates a goal for people to go for while also keeping people invested in the game. And it gives SD a framework they can easily use for their events.

Instead of playing 45 hours for a trinket you can instead max out 3 mercs of your choosing or something like that. There is all kinds of cool and easy to do possibilities. And if things got high enough they could even introduce a prestige system (I think that’s what it’s called) where you can reset your levels and go for new stuff based on some event.

Very interesting… @Amerika I do see the point and agree that system would give players more to “do” as well, leveling up mercs and getting rewards ect ect.

I’m very worried about the acceleration of XP farming and leveling abuse.

I would rather have the merc level that @Amerika showed.

Merc lvl sounds like a great idea.

When you reached the max lvl you can buy a special skin for the merc (with credits)

Would make the grinding more fun
