Reward the best in our community, let them arrange games

(abrahamit) #21

Good suggestion, but these things usually work themselves out.

(.FROST.) #22
Well…when i got it right, he meant someone who arranges things like:

“Hey , who wants to play on We.03. at about 18:00 cet ? lets put our voip up and have some matches or a small tounament.”
or " Who can play regulary on Fr nights ? Lets have somthing like a fun-squad that meets and plays together regularly to get deeper into the team thing u know like making up and trying strategies, be more coordinated and stuff without the drawbacks of beeing a clan right away."

Not the worst idea to have something like a blog where you can find teammates for more than just accidentialiy meeting on a pub once in a while.

But this is nothing that just best ( whatever that means) peeps from the communitiy could do.
Thats mostly my understanding too but why allways promote others? Except if he’s a 12years old he can pull stuff like that himself. And as you say one don’t have to be a forum senior(or one of the"best") to do this. Its more a matter of if you like to do it and if you like to bear this"responsibility", for at least some time.

Myself and Wolf have already been doing what the OP suggested on another forum. Not that there’s anything wrong with this one it’s just more centralized with the focus of finding other people to play with, community game nights, etc. We both play on Xbox though so it would be difficult for us to arrange community game nights on other platforms (for Brink). If there were other people from PC and PS3 interested in starting up game nights, etc. that would be great. If you’re interested feel free to check us out:

Resistance is Futile

Also for 360 we organize games pretty much every single night starting at 8PM EST.

Giving mod status out:

There are already enough self-appointed forum pseudo-mods running about these forums without giving them actual mod buttons. No.

Giving ‘community leader’ stuff:

Sure, but if you’re going to do this, you don’t give it to the top 5 fanboys trolling the place up for the two months that they’ve been here. You give it to the people who are the best at organising events, who are the best at submitting detailed critical feedback to SD, who have been with SD for years and know/understand the studio. Which has already happened; see GreasedScotsman etc.

So yeah, we’re mostly in agreement.
Thought I understand english quite well, but if so, than this guy is begging for some kind of leadership? From guys he don’t know anything but their amount of “forum-stars”, is that it? Boy, you need to go to the army. Pack your 'sack, they are waiting for guys like you.

Seriously, I’m a grown man and I respect everyones opinion, if this one has a red star or one bazillion green stars doesn’t matter for me and shouldn’t for you either. But I won’t agree with someone based on the amount of stars above his avatar.

Why do people allways want to follow orders? Don’t they have a mind themselfs? Man you are as much worth as anyone here. And wolfnemesis is certainly a great guy, but I won’t accept anything I don’t agree with. But I’m allways in for a little discussion. Thats what a forum is for in the end.

Probably misunderstood your(RabidAnubis) initial post anyways.
Reason why I only wanted the people who cared was because I didn’t want the blog to become a spam deal.

I was thinking the reason for this was so that you could find a match without playing Brink all day.

For instance, one of the people could say, “We should all get on at 6:00 central time today” rather than us all playing empty matches from 2-8pm. They could arrange the community game nights. They would not be able to kick you, or do anything but just arrange a few games, and maybe post up new tactics in the metagame and important to read links. He can’t force you to get on either way. I just don’t want to play empty matches all day HOPING I’m on at the “Right time”

I think it would help us all get into a few more matches a day, without the waiting.

No, I posted the wrong title to the mod part on the thread, which has been fixed.

And we would probably take people who ARE fanboys (Or atleast aren’t going anywhere), but are also good at being honest, and would arrange times that wouldn’t only suit them.

Wolfnemisis would be good for the balance, but (Maybe?) not good at the organizing. He’s honest.

I would be good at the organizing, but I really don’t love this game enough to have the job.

GreenScotsman. I think I might have fought him last night? Not sure. Don’t know too much about him.

The people would not have the mod power, only the blog power

(RabidAnubis) #27

I just wouldn’t want too many trolls to use the blog to their advantage.

And SD would pick the people.

(RabidAnubis) #28

Only for people who visit the forum, not the in game ones.

BTW, I respond to everything at once, I’m not spamming, just responding to things as I read them. Thank you.

(DarkangelUK) #29

Doesn’t need to happen and more than likely not gonna happen. The ‘fanboys’ have a perfectly fine forum at hand where they can organize anything they want without the need for mods here to approve or do anything.

(nephandys) #30

I don’t agree with the OP’s idea either so we are completely on the same page there. However, this is really starting to get to me. My site is not a “fanboy” forum. I’m not a fanboy which I feel is pretty clear as I’ve pointed out flaws in this game a billion times. In no post concerning our forum have I ever suggested it’s just for people who love Brink or that negative comments about the game were unwelcome. There’s never been any posts deleted or moderated on the forum due to negative comments concerning Brink. Just because Wolf is involved doesn’t mean it’s the “fanboy forum.”

I started the forum to make it easier for players to hook up with each other. I’m doing my best to help the community that’s left playing this game. Through my site and the friend’s list I have compiled I organize games almost every single night on 360.

So can you not label it the “fanboy” forum? I’m not trying to be a dick I just feel like we have a reputation that’s unwarranted and that I would like to avoid. Everyone is welcome I don’t want to limit visitors based on an unfair label.

Problems with Brink:
Body Types
Spread
Random Recoil
Maps are unbalanced
No SDK
Ops don’t seem balanced with other classes
Highlighting Lags
One Button for everything sucks (PC)
Ridiculous DLC Delay
etc…

(DarkangelUK) #31

You mean like ‘hater’?

(RabidAnubis) #32

I don’t agree with the person above, but i do agree that this is NOT a fan boy forum. Even wolf posts issues with the game and we could all post fifty issues with it or things they could have OBVIOUSLY included. We are just content with it as it is, or certain that they will fix the things comes the time because their reputation may be at stake. In fact, if they fixed this game this would probably make them look good. Which is one of the reasons I’m riding with it. And this is one of the games that get BETTER the more you play it, not worse.

(DarkangelUK) #33

I’m pretty sure I wasn’t the 1st or even 2nd person to use the word ‘fanboy’ in this thread, and I parried the term in it’s current flow from the previous posts. As for not agreeing with me… which part don’t you agree with?

(RabidAnubis) #34

I posted a little late, I posted while you were typing, directed at neph.

(nephandys) #35

lol I’m totally with you on the use of that term as well. I don’t think I’ve referred to anyone as that here. I think most of the people still around care about the game, its future, and/or SD or they would have left a long time ago.
