Revives "feel sluggish" since sparks update? For you too?

(eitsch0r) #1

Hi there,

does anyone else feel the “revive-experience” being more “disconnected” from the “revive-action” since last update?

I don’t know how to put this into words much better. It feels like the “revive-experience” (my POV as a revive-target) is lagging behind the “revive-action” (the Actions of the Medic).

Or when firing the Revifle as sparks it feels like the “to-be-revived-body” kinda has to meditate a bit about getting up and then flupps up.

Maybe this is netcode related or maybe i am alone in this? So this is more like a question than a report … my experience of the revive-action has changed definitely.

Greetings

It’s a feature, check the patch notes.

you propably are targeting the following with your comment?

[ul]
[li]Revived players now spend a second getting-up before they can move
[/li]> [/ul]

Then my question still stands (at least in my opinion) … the revives feel sluggish and as the revive-target i would expect some experience like we had in W:ET whereas we would be revived instantly and then had a second of immova-/invulnerability where we just could look around and function as a bullet-shield for the medic.

OTOH … you might be right. When i re-read multiple times what they put in releasenotes i am able to wobble through the diplomatic smoke screens and can see why they formulated their sentence the way they did.

“spend a second getting-up” leaves much freedom/room for interpretation, doesn’t it? :expressionless:

I agree with you, the current implementation is clunky, buggy and unclear, I can only presume this was the fastest way they could implement and test the idea, it definitely has it’s issues right now.

That’s a bingo!

things (we) I want:

  • first person view as soon as revived
  • little bit invulnerability when you can move already as well (in W:ET it was ~0.5 sec and it worked well)
  • fluent animation from start to end (as soon as someone is revived I want to be able to tell - whether its an opponent or a friendly)

This first and foremost. It’s very confusing to see your ragdoll get back up in a 3rd person view before snapping back into your body, especially when there are several bodies around. In the heat of the action it’s hard to tell if it’s you or someone else getting revived…:o
