Returning after about a year

So it seems SD broke free from Nexon while I was away, but I haven’t really noticed any REAL changes overall.

I quit DB a little after OW had launched and last I remember from around that time, there were already some CMM tests going on. So umm… could I see it by now?

Other than that what I’m really wondering is: Do devs now actually pay some attention to these forums and maybe respond to some topics least once a month or do they still only use reddit when they do decide to answer anything?

Is there any point in me leaving some feedback in the forums or not really?
What kind of feedback does SD take nowadays to balance their game, the private test server group? ranked data? casual 8vs8 data?

Is there now a reason to really get invested and focus on ranked games?
Last I remember trying ranked, you had to make a sacrifice and pray to the RNG gods not to get matched vs a stacked team of cobalt+ ranks already in placement games.
Thunder still OP? Phantom still never actually useful at a competitive level? Still possible to stack 4 Artys +1 medic on EV maps?

The devs are much more active in the community. They read most posts it seems, though usually don’t respond unless it’s very important. They’re doing a lot better in their weekly update videos too.

Ranked is still terrible. Unless you want skins, I wouldn’t really bother with it. There’s a lot of issues, and it’s not just matchmaking related. The sad thing is the devs haven’t really said anything about major changes regarding it.

Thunder is better, although still a bit much with the stark. Phantom can actually be amazing competitively now that he has an EMP ability, but most players still have no clue how to play him properly so they just avoid him completely. Merc stacking is still an issue though, it’s been talked about a lot on the forums.

However, SD has been working on content related updates moreso than anything else recently since the summer squash updates. 2 new maps, a new merc, tonnes of cards, more events, and a new map in development. While not a lot has happened with regards to balance or UI, things are going well imo. And there are other balance updates planned, including more casual matchmaking tests.

There is a new dev post every friday called FAQing fridays. I think this is the last one:
forums.dirtybomb.com/discussion/36856/faq-ing-fridays-9-june-23rd-2017#latest
They are answering questions from this forums, reddit, and the comments on the weekly dev videos as well.
EDIT: not sure this is the last, is is over 1 month old by now. Maybe SD has a summer break?

Next balance update comes in August, we’ll see how it turns out.

I don’t like ranked either - however, if the enemy team is stacking cobalts, you can fight it with stacking good players on your team. Now all party sizes are allowed from 1 to 5, not just 1,2 and full team.
There are known bugs with joining lobbies, the devs are investigating. Good to know before you try it.

Several new maps and a new merc aren’t a real change? That’s depressing

No, they want you to play Ranked. People complain about Ranked a lot and want bug fixes and balance patches before CMM apparently.

Every week actually, devs are pretty active here too.

Is there now a reason to really get invested and focus on ranked games?

No

Last I remember trying ranked, you had to make a sacrifice and pray to the RNG gods not to get matched vs a stacked team of cobalt+ ranks already in placement games.

Matchmaking is only a problem in Ranked

Cobalt ranks don’t really exist anymore because of bad matchmaking + long queues above silver make people quit @ gold and smurf

Thunder still OP? Phantom still never actually useful at a competitive level? Still possible to stack 4 Artys +1 medic on EV maps?

Thunder is only OP in Ranked
Merc stacking is only an issue in Ranked
Phantom’s usefulness in Ranked is speculated for next season as a counter to Turtle shields

Don’t play Ranked, it’s a dumpster fire.

Join some 7v7 and have fun. Or play one of the Min Level 20 6v6 servers if you want to see what Ranked more or less should be.

Also, don’t play Ranked. It’s a dumpster fire.
