I’ll of course play Arty again, but you guys have to understand what kind of a shock it was for me, since I almost exclusively played him for the last 10-11 months. And some won’t agree with my opinion, but in his current state(at least until we’ve learned to play him anew) he’s become a completely different character; the mere idea, of forefront fighting with him is just frightening now. I mean trying to headshot someone in a CQ situation, with a semi auto? You just can’t want that, especially if your potential opponent happens to be soldier. Well, except if you are some kind of a masochist, or one of those guys who’d try to play through games in those “only one life challenge modes”.
As for now Arty is a mix of a designated marksman, a forward air-controller and a supply-bod. Wich means in essence, he’s best used somewhere between the rear and the mid-field; as opposed to formerly, where you could’ve used him wherever you wanted.
I may adapt to that, but it will take me some time.
PS: SD has gained a habit to change things in 300% steps now, as opposed to the past where we were used to get those 15% changes. I wonder if that new rush style indicates some kind of ““panic””*, or anything else. At least in my opinion they could’ve started with a three rounds burst mode. But maybe that would’ve been harder to implement than a mere one-shot setting. I hope though, that they’ll give Arty a reasonable three rounds burst mode for the open beta, or at least in the release version.
I mean people would just look at his weapon and laugh their butts off, as soon as they find out, that that thing is nothing but a elongated pistol. That’s seriously no way to convince people to pick this guy. But then again, maybe that’s it; maybe the stock mercs are designed to suck a little, so people would buy themselfs the real mercs from the shop. Wich would be completely understandable, since we are still talking about a F2P game here.
* because the development/testing time has already taken much too long.
