Resizing .wav files ?

(dwe_flame) #1

is it know to anyone how to make .wav files smaller in KB ?
i have a few .wav files for my map, but they are like 400 KB each now, i like to reduce this to like 50 - 25 % of that, or even less, without too much notable loss of quality

is there some white or freeware pogramm i can do this with ?

right click/record, then save as and choose quality.

Change kHz (sampling rate) and make sure sample format is 16-bit also use mono instead of stereo, because ET has positional audio itself.

Audacity it free and easy to use.

dBpoweramp was good to but i think not free…

yea i made the sounds with Audacity
but to keep all the data low that is loaded during map start i want to make the .wav files only smaller in Kb’s
now they are like 200Kb for just 2 seconds. seems a bit big to me now

thorn3 has the solution you are looking for. Reduce sampling rate, bits and change to mono.
