Resistance or Security? YOU Decide!

(Throbblefoot) #1

For some reason, I ended up with more characters defaulting to Security than Resistance. Sure, they have cooler clothes and get an extra water ration, but aren’t they basically just fascistic paramilitary goons? And on the other side, maybe Resistance are all noble, visionary freedom fighters… who live in crime-ridden, disease-infested shipping container slums.

Which side do you like better, and why?

Security, to the resistance, collateral damage is completely acceptable, they think of no one but themselves. They’re basically terrorists, just like the security calls them.

(Throbblefoot) #3

True, though as soon as Security has a motive to assault the Lower Ark, the order is “do your job” – obviously, collateral damage is okay with Security as long as it doesn’t happen in Founders’ Tower. I don’t like what Resistance does to the tower or reactor, but I there is definitely innocent blood on Mokoena’s hands. Check this quote from Ishmael: “Ark Security often close down Pelgos to conduct Live Fire exercises. At least, that’s what the newscasts say.”

Security!

Save the Ark!

(Jimmy James) #5

I prefer Security for a few reasons.

First, they are defending the Ark’s founders from a bunch of unwelcome refugees. The fact that the founders even allowed 40K refugees to squat in a city that can only sustain 5K is a testament to their compassion (even if it was horribly short-sighted).

Also, and this is me being a bit selfish here, if I were to have to choose a side in real life the choice is obvious: Security has better equipment, they are well fed, they have access to clean drinking water, their weapons are well maintained, and they have greater access to the Ark’s resources, like the train.

Furthermore, while Security may be mowing down armed rebels, the Resistance resorts to mass murder of civilians twice (the surface to surface missile aimed at the tower and sabotaging the reactor).

Finally, I actually think it would be a mistake to contact the outside world. The Ark is overcrowded enough as it is, they don’t need to be alerting anyone else of its existence or location.

according to the win:loss ratio on the console stats site, its definetaly the resistance.

2 out of 3 matches it gets pretty frustrating for security.

Well in container city the security went against using their air superiority due to excessive civilian loss, so they sent security ground units in instead.

Also those live fire exercises are how the Founders are covering up there feud with the resistance.

I’d go with the security. I’m kinda sold to the thought that “the outside world the resistance so eagerly calls for will only cause for more, and worse situations”…But…then again…ah screw this, “They’re all the same to me” is my vote. :stuck_out_tongue:

(tokamak) #9

I find it amusing, we were told that both sides were equally valid, but it just turned out that the Resistance are a bunch of fanatical, zealous lunatics messing everything up. Blow up the ark, blow up the tower, make your location known to the savage outer worlds. They’re comically evil.

(Zarel) #10

Tokamak swayed me, I chose security, I CHOSE SECURITY! NO NO PLEASE I WANT MY SHINY UNIFORM AND DOUBLED WATER RATIONS!!!

(Jimmy James) #11

Yeah, while I appreciate the symbolism of the white “dove” flying from the Ark I don’t think it will turn out well. If there is any dry land out there it’s got to be way more overcrowded than the Ark. People instinctively flee to high ground when the water rises.

Heh, agreed.

EDIT: Spectator FTW!

The Security briefing already starts with that the rest of the planet is messed up. There’s land but it’s complete anarchy. The ark is the only place that was completely prepared for an event like this so it’s downright foolish to want to go anywhere else.

The stories by James weren’t pretty either. Very imaginative though, whoever has written these logs reminded me of Children of Men, the book that is, not the movie.

Security, to serve and to protect

With a name like yours, whodathunk?!

(Spendlove) #16

A lot of the posts are saying Security because the Resistance turn out in the end to form a splinter group of nutters going against Chens plans.

You never get to see the Security go too far and become more of a facist military arm of the Ark Founders. Maybe in the new maps the Security will cross the line and make all of us Security players uncomfortable?

(Zekariah) #17

Resistance.

Not because of their cause, but because any team that can turn a soda can into a suppressor is aces in my book.

(SnipingMeerkat) #18

I prefer the resistance as I like there clothes and the missions. Why would you pick spectator? It’s a bit boring isn’t.

(Jimmy James) #19

For the same reason it was made an option, because it’s funny.
