Requesting Splash Damage response

(Lokalen) #1

Hello there!

Us administrators have been hard at work keeping the servers up for just about a week now. We’ve provided tons of feedback and logs, settings for your to parse.

It would be highly apreciated if any staff from Splash Damage could acknowledge the problems we brought up and maybe give a short comment on what you are planning to fix and when we could expect the next update.

Don’t let this be another Treyarch experience where the communication is one-sided.

Also, are there any other forums in which you discuss issues? Maybe a mailing list. If so you should let people take part of this and not keep it exlusive to common RSPs.

Kind regards from the leading public game server provider in Sweden,

Any of the 1000 linux server threads (although I would rather you get the Windows server stable before you even concider porting it to linux)

It would be awesome to put all solutions in one topic also so that new people don’t have to open new threads and flood the forum. Also, I am not sure if you have other ways of communicating with certain hosts but some tricks seems to be know to some that I haven’t seen being mentioned here at all: such as the “wait 1000” trick to make the server properly load settings on fast machines. Another thing that should be added to the sticky on how to get Brink server is how to run the server from hldsupdatetool rather than installing Steam on a server box.

I must agree…We need help SD…
We want to run servers for your game but we need help to keep them running…

So please give us a response on at least some of these issues…

Many thanks

1 whole week without any response from Splash Damage (to any thread that I am aware of). Please, embrace the community and work with us - don’t let this be another Treyarch repeat.

You don’t even have to give us answers, just let us know that you are taking our suggestions and feedback to heart.

It starting to sound like Homefront all over again. This total lack of response since last patch isn’t looking good. I have the feeling that they may have given up on it themselves.

there have been winks and nods here and there such as the “admin levels” thread. it isn’t much but if you read into it you might find a hint of a solution for non technical concerns. i think we will be waiting a bit longer for answers given the size and scope of brink being shouldered by the size of SD. sorry to hear about server hosting troubles.

remember also, chatting between maps was enabled prior to the first server patch. seems like a temporary removal atm.

the extend of brinks server admin is being explored and documented. just read the “admin levels” thread later today. listing clients just needs a good script but official would be nice.

motd was implied to be enabled at a later time.

without assuming the worst, the other issues should be no brainers for priority to do lists at SD.

progress is slow but coming.

This is Splash Damage, they at least have a history of taking care of their community. I just think we have to be patient… but it is extremelly hard not to dispair if nobody says anything. And especially with Black Ops and Homefront in recent memory. I am at least hoping they see this eventually and start taking part more in our discussions.

Does anyone have a name of their community manager or like? Maybe I can contact them directly and see what is going on.

Well, mod tools would be great. And I am sure they are working hard on it. But I am almost certain they have at least one employee responsible for communication. We are not asking for solutions just some sort of response and a little insight in what they are doing.

Regarding the server troubles. It is pretty critical for an audiance that only focus on the multiplayer part of games. There are some pretty huge issues that we would love to avoid if possible. Baby-sitting servers is a tedious task.

But yeah, patience… I never learned that

Summer is cool though.

Still no updates from SD?

I just found this:
http://bethblog.com/index.php/2011/05/20/brink-–-an-update-on-updates/

PC

A game update for the PC version of Brink is in final testing and we’re planning to release it early next week. This update contains a host of fixes and improvements including the following:

We’ve identified the cause of sound dropping out on certain maps when playing networked games for a prolonged amount of time. This will no longer occur.

Graphical performance has been improved, especially when using Ambient Occlusion. We’ve worked closely with both AMD and NVIDIA, and you should see performance and stability improvements in future driver revisions from both parties.

The server browser is tweaked in this update, as well; among other things, a new filter allows you to display only servers with a certain number of players on them, and full servers will no longer be filtered out completely.

There are some smaller fixes for minor issues including your character’s voice occasionally resetting when deleting another character, and a memory leak when alt-tabbing out of the game.

Finally, the dedicated server is set to get an update at the same time as the main game, which will result in improved CPU performance. We’ve protected certain cvars that previously allowed server admins to accidentally break objectives involving NPCs.

The full changelog will be released alongside the update, so keep an eye out for that.

I hope the server update fixes many of the problems we have all been experiencing…
