Last night, we had ~50% of our competitive matches having hackers. They were open and obvious and were bragging about it. One used that instant-kill all players with pistol hack. I went through the process of reporting only the last guy I saw because going through the reporting process is a bit painful to do after-the-fact.
What would be nice is an in-game reporting system. Let me go to console and do a ReportCheat . From there, the server and client can both start collecting data and saving it for later review by your abuse team. Older Unreal Tournament Engine games had demorec capability. Within that data file, we were often able to create data parsers and analytics to detect hacks (snap-to, trigger bot instant fire when hitbox enters reticle). Some of those analytics could be employed on the spot by the server once a ReportCheat is enabled as well. Those won’t work forever, though, as the cheats work around them. However, the ReportCheat and data collection makes things a lot easier for us to report and for you to get useful data to combat them.
