Request for a box model

(Berzerkr) #1

A friend needs for his headshot server a solid (not animated) model to replace the head.

Form: Box
Size: same size as the hitbox of the head

And maybe a model wich is a bit bigger to replace the helmet with a box to show if the player wears a helmet (protection) or not.

Later on the box he will have shown a bullseye on each side.
Easy to add with npherno’s md3 compiler.

Your work will be creditet in the final version of the pack.

Thanks in advance.

You mean something like a square wooden box insted of head???

Exactly.

Hmmm… Helmet is a piece of cake, since its a separate md3. Now with player models, its a bit harder, coz its mdm. If anyone knows any app or milkshape addon (no blender pls, I dont like it) that opens mdm and mdc, I will create this box-head soldier  very fast (I hope)

The head is a md3, the body mdm.
The head is stored in models\players\hud\

Thanks a lot for creating the boxes!!!

BTW: I never understood why there are two heads in the pak0.
head.md3 (animated) and head_1.md3 (not animated). Same with the helmet, there are hemlet.md3 and helmet_1.md3, but only the version without “_1” is used.

The “_x” suffix is used to denote LOD models.

As such, you point to the regular model (without “_1” or higher) and the game swaps the model for “model_1” and so on if the model gets more out of range. Where the LOD distance is stored is unknown to me.

I believe Firefly researched it at one point.
