Replace IS with red dots

Not saying I agree with this particular suggestion, I was just saying what I presume his rationale to be.

If anything, scopes should influence “weapon switch time”, and/or the reload time. But only very, very slightly. I basically liked/agreed how they’ve balanced weapon attachements in Brink. The more stuff you’ve put on your weapon, the longer it took to switch it. And the more massive your mag was, the longer it took to change it*; and I think sights also kinda affected your reload speed a bit, but maybe not, I forgot that; It wouldn’t be too un-reasonable though. Increasing kick would only make sense in the case of more powerful ammo, or removing the stock from your weapon; wich you may want to do, because it would increase the “weapon switch speed”. And so on, and so forth.

*And not only that; you could reload incredibly fast when you had a duct-taped mag(basically two mags sticked together), but after you’ve ran through your second “clip” it took you longer to reload, because you’d have to pick a whole new duct taped mag. and than the next reload would be incredibly fast again, and so on.

If there’s already a big thread concerning weapon attachments, the forgive me for dropping my 2cents here. Red dots are more so a necessary measure visually and I’d rather see them by default. Players can get used to iron sights with prolonged use, but they are old fashioned and just plain visually unfriendly. As far as modifying weapons via attachments, I’d want to see some really well thought out design there. Most times there’s not much thought required to modding weapons in games- it’s just a “best set” type of thing or they don’t matter at all. Silencers for ex. just make no sense as an attachment in most games if all they do is quiet the gun fire. I want to make weighted choices when it comes to attachments that actually matter.

Silencers actually increase accuracy. Not in many games though.

But since they also increase the length of a weapon you could “punish” people with a slower weapon switch time; if you so desire.
