Rented Server Reserve Slots

(SighFye) #1

I am renting 2 servers atm. I noticed that setting reserved slots actually takes away other slots. I think a better way would be people can use those slot if unused, but when the password is entered, someone random is kicked.

@SighFye I get what you mean man,

easiest way is to add another slot for you and maybe 1 other (Bell or Om) then when you join you each use the private slots so it keeps the public slots free.

With private slots tho if both slots are not in use the teams will always be unbalanced when server filled and only one private slot is used.

Not really anything you can do about that, but at least you can always join the server that way.

I’m thinking thats what I will do.

Why would anyone want to rent a server for how buggy this game is?

(SighFye) #4

Clear there are people. Myself and Jemstar both rent servers.

(SighFye) #5

Yeah I’ve thought about that, but the potential imbalance annoys me

@Stokes Hackers can be immediately banned on rented servers…Also the only way to be able to play Execution mode again…Also to support SD and the game.

@Stokes Min levels higher than 25 and ping limits are also valid reasons.

Now that is something to think about. If someone was caught cheating on a rented server and got banned, would that cross over to the official servers? Now this, I would love to see! And, how would admins be able to see who was cheating if they were?

(SighFye) #9

I don’t agree it should cross over to official servers. There are a lot of people that call hacks just because the person is good. I have also had people call hacks on me a few times when I have a really good game on sniper. Making it ban across all servers would see people getting banned from official server without a true cause.

Im not renting till execution is launched

Only if sd or anti cheat verifies it do t want false bans

Allowing server admins to outright ban a player from the entire game is not a good idea at all and will never happen. The only ones that have the authorization to do so are the developers and of course EAC. Once EAC detects someone isn’t playing with clean hands he is permanently banned across the game. A game ban is then marked on their Steam profile, it’s viewable to everyone regardless of the profile privacy settings the player in question has it set to so you can check if someone you suspect of cheating has been banned yet this way. Although do note that false positives happen from time to time and bans are also not exclusive to cheating - they are furthermore handed out for extreme toxicity, albeit these two occur only very rarely.

@Stokes Never should a random rented server admin be able to ban people from the whole network. But the ability to ban people for cheating/trolling on a rented server will give players confidence and want to keep playing on a server where there is real time admining.

There’s also high pingers. We strive to ensure no one over 200 ping plays in our server. We remove toxic players and of course hackers. There are lots of benefits to renting a server. Plus owning a clan, it gets our clans name known across the Australian community. I would say most Aussie players know about GLTCH (my clan), Blood (Jems clan) and LHR (RedJaguars clan)
