[Renderer] Nvidia OpenGL driver has lost connection with the display driver

(ReturnOfSanta) #161

Crash still occurs post-update. Both crashes, including reporting the OpenGL error and the hard lock

(Arthur Hucksake) #162

Low level driver nonsense at play I bet.

Not as if there are many Open GL games being released as of late to highlight such a problem.

Fearful of what may happen when Rage comes out.

(Amon Amarth) #163

Something interesting for me: the game will crash+lockup everytime on the second level of the first chapter. It seems every time I try to disguise my self (playing as the “Spy” character), the game will crash as soon as I hit the F key. I’ll try with other characters/levels.

I know this is off topic, but it is rather annoying doing beta testing for $50. -_-

(scub) #164

i wasnt getting this “nvidia opengl driver lost connection” until the recent patch. alt+tabbing out of game also crashed it after a couple minutes.

it happens after im playing online for a good 25-30 minutes. the screen will go black then i will get windows end task on brink and go back to desktop. for some reason i think when i am using F key it crash but i cant confirm yet… next time it crash i will know for sure.

windows 7 64bit
480 GTX @1920x1080 using driver v270.61

(gl0ry) #165

I haven’t had the crash occur again since the patch, played for a little over an hour. Will report back if it happens again, but by looking at this thread it probably isn’t fixed.

(Amon Amarth) #166

Still having the crash.

Playing the game on the third chapter as a soldier (on the side to escape the ARK), still crashes.

The game does not always crash with the error message display, then locking up my PC. Sometimes, it will simply make my monitors black, and nothing will happen. At that point, I have to force my computer to restart. I can’t even get into this game because of the incredibly frequent crash.

Thanks Kiste - This - Go to your BRINK profile (or use the global profile) in the nVidia driver panel and set “Power Management Mode” from “adaptive” to “prefer maximum performance” worked for me, was able to play about 4 hours and no crash. I did see some corrupted text for menu items, single charaters would some times show up as a box but the brink kept playing after I mad the profile change.

  • Hope it helps.

GTX 460
Win7 64bit
1680x1050
Latest drivers, nothing OC (except for the moderate factory OC on my GTX)

Gonna try the power management thingie and see if it helps.

EDIT: nope, power management tweaking doesnt help me

(Junkie219) #169

The OpenGL driver lost connection with display driver and is unable to continue. The application must close.
Please visit http://www.nvidia.com/page/support.html for help.

  • but get crashes at all 16:10 resolutions it seems
    Dual Monitor Setup

Crashes occurring in Objective and other game types - seemingly at random.
Making an otherwise awesome game unplayable.
If I didn’t but it off Steam I would take it back to the store - dissapointing paying the big bucks for a game that obviously isn’t quite ready for prime time. Hope a patch can douse some of my buyers regret and I can convince some mates to but it…

(Quinti) #171

Hi!

I also have this problem… Full EVGA Rigg with a SLI of GTX470, EVGA mobo with a core i7 760 (No O/C at all). Win7 64 build, nvidia drivers 270.61.
I removed the SLI and the game still crash after a few minutes with an error 8. This happened after the patch applied yesterday evening by Steam. I had no crash before and it was running fine with the SLI patch from EVGA (SLI enhancement patch for drivers 270.61).

Quinti.

(acare84) #172

Any news from the dev team about this issue? It is becoming little annoying to get crash and lost every XP in the mission.

(Quinti) #173

Removed the ingame steam community… it seems to be a bit more stable, played 30 mins without a crash (luck ?). To disable it : right click on the Brink icon on steam then properties and uncheck the “enable community In-game”.

(SlideRulz) #174

GTX 470 sli
Asys p7p67 deluxe
i7 2600k

Mine was crashing randomly when the resolution is set to 16:9 1920 x 1080.
I changed to 16:9 1600 x 900 and it does not crash. I still loose audio sometimes but at least the system doesn’t lock up.

(Vollbernd) #175

So far I have tested every driver (with a clean re-install) from version 258.96 up to the current 270.61 all with the same end result.

random freeze. I can’t even tab out or I won’t get any error message, pc just freezes, last second of sound repeats over and over and I have to do a hard reset.

just the amount of time is different each time, sometimes I get it right after I join a game, sometimes it takes up to 30 minutes

specs:

  • Intel q9550 core2quad e1 stepping (stock speed)
  • Asus p5q deluxe mainboard
  • 8gb DDR2 RAM (corsair XMS2)
  • Leadtek 460GTX OC (runs factory OCed @725MHz core clock, but crashes also happen when I set it to stock speeds at 675MHz)
  • Auzen X-Fi Prelude 7.1 PCI

(jegis) #176

I am not having this issue with a GTX560 Ti.

i5 2500k 3.3Ghz
8GBs DDR3
PNY GTX560 Ti

1024x768 resolution.

I’ve noticed people have issues with the GTX4xx and GTX5xx series and just wanted to say that from my experience GTX560 Ti owners should be fine.

Using the latest drivers (270.61) and running Windows 7 64-bit.

(angemon) #177

I crash mainly when I am trying to Disguise with F.

Interesting indeed. I haven’t seen a single 560 owner in this thread complain about this crash and I’m wondering why that is.

It seems to mainly be affecting the GF100/GF104/GF110 architectures. The 560 Ti is GF114. Hardware issue? Hmm.

Really hope SD gives us an update on this soon. I’d really like to be able to play my game.

(Thorm) #179

This began happening to me last evening. Prior to that the game had played flawlessly, and I had been bragging about it to my coworkers. Guess I jinxed myself. Now I can’t seem to complete a mission without seeing this error.
