you cannot call 7 military aircrafts in 1 place. they can collide! plus they need re-fuel at base. this take time.
and i disagree on calling teamcooldown a bad design.
this is teamplay game. everyone should keep in mind, that when he takes another Sky - yes, he can though another airstrike, but he sacrifises his future for it.

The problem is players should be able to use their abilities when they want, and be able to manage them without other teammates impacting on it, this is how it works for every other ability in the game, just imagine if you were saving your airstrike for that crucial clutch EV play, when some noob accidentally throws an airstrike when he meant to drop an ammo pack… geegee.

on a serious note. a team-resourses can be a thing, i will think about it…

like 10 ready to launch bombers (10 easy airstrikes with usual cooldown). after that they refuel bombers with bigger cooldown.

not a team cooldown, but less spam. you get more c/d after team drops 10 airstrikes.

the way to go about it is to make cooldowns longer for each next same merc. So 2 skyhammers have both a cooldown +10sec penalty, or the like. You’d still have your airstrike,b ut youll have to wait a bit longer for it.

ET has the g_heavyWeaponRestriction cvar, commonly used to restrict the number of Airstrikes each team’s F/Ops can drop within a period of time. This would usually be set to a value that limited Airstrikes to around 2 - 3 per minute for a 6-v-6 match with 2 F/Ops per team.

If we get skill separation… How do I learn mercs I am not familiar with? Or different weapons on a merc I know.
I for sure suck with some mercs and currently I have low incentive to learn them cause I always get put in teams as a carry and basically get a default loss.

I dont believe 1 parameter is suffiecient for player skill…

How about insignias, with an upper cap, like in et/qw…? And I love Diablo 3’s seasons with seasonal unique portrait frames and ‘journey’ system.

I think SD can learn a lot from Diablo 3. :smiley:
Season, Market Place, Unique Season Items, Perks/augments and much more.

Edit: It took Diablo 3 and RoS Expansion many years to finally get right.

That’s mainly a balance issue, not anything that really concerns levels - they only assumably make the skill difference more visible. Often they falsify reality. I played and won many matches in which I played together with lower lvl people, I also experienced awful games where half of my higher lvl teammates left early.

Levels do not show skill so balance is completely irrelevant to the topic at hand. I’m all for having better balanced matches where I don’t get flamed for being a virgin nolife neckbeard who has never seen the sun however this will never happen when levels are shown in game.

Levels show experience (not xp, actual experience), while not an indicator of skill there’s still advantages that are had over users with less experience of the game

Much as I kinda love the paternal role you get as a high-level player over some of the newer players, I agree that it gives me more grief than it’s worth.
I, too, get insulted a lot just for playing this game a lot. People get frustrated over it, and the cons described are very realistic.

Though I’m usually more of a “let it be” guy, the cons do outweigh the pros.
