I dunno about everyone else but who I play depends a fair bit on what map is on. It would be nice if the loadout would change automatically to the last loadout you used on the selected map. That alone would cut down on almost all my loadout switching.
Remember last loadout used on each map
I’ve never had the urge to change a loadout based on a map. I know Cool would be nice to have on a couple of maps but other than that I can’t think of one loadout being more useful than another. Or maybe using a shotgun on Aura/Proxy for one map vs. SMG on another.
Do you really switch your loadouts this much? I pretty much only ever switch Sawbonez loadout between the more kill focuses loadout with spares/focus/potent packs compared to the get-up/mechanic/potent packs I use when I want/need to play more support. And I swap between M4 Fragger and LMG Fragger sometimes but that’s only for the hell of it.
You’re likely to switch which mercs you’re playing per map/side more than loadouts…which then you’ll pick a loadout.
The only times I really swap out based on maps are for Vassili on Chapel and Bridge. My choices are more based around what my friends are using and then I have a different setup for soloing.
I don’t switch them THAT much, I might if I had more mercs. But for example I always make sure to have Skyhammer on Chapel, but wouldn’t take him on Underground. The only reason I suggest it at all is because by the time the map is picked there isn’t actually much time left to switch your loadout much. Though admittedly this is more due to the fact that the menu has such low fps and prevents quick actions I suppose.
You’re right though, it’s not THAT big of a deal, actually I’d rather just be allowed to put the menu FPS up.
Hrm, I don’t seem to have any issues with menu FPS. You also have 30 seconds to pick your merc/loadout. Maybe you’re having issues I am not experiencing in regards to menu responsiveness? Should record it and post it on the bug section of the Warchest forums.
Not once the map has been picked, by then it’s more like 10.
It’s not super low fps, but it’s enough that I can’t go clickclickclick to change a single loadout. I have to click…wait…click…wait… Depending on how many people I want to swap out and if I change my mind or misclick it can get pretty tight.
You have 15 seconds to pick the map and 15 seconds after the map is chosen to pick your merc. You might want to go back and look at the actual timing
I wouldn’t mind the loadout changing not requiring a screen change and instead be something you can quickly do all from the lobby screen. It looks like they went with a more cinematic choice. If more loadouts get into the game and certain setups become more important to map picks then speeding things up would be nice. But right now you get 30 seconds to change everything so it’s not awful.
It would be cool if players could predefine loadouts (a set of mercs with cards) and choose them in one go, instead of having to choose each merc, and the loadout card, individually.
Yeah that wouldn’t be bad, a small list of numbers 1-9 or something above the cards where you could have preset loadouts would be sweet.
I literally only use Sawbonez. That is the only character I use. I don’t even need two other mercs, I just play Sawbonez. I get in the game and lock in immediately, because I don’t even not play Sawbonez.
10/10 would Sawbonez again.
This, saving and recalling loadouts is a musthave.
I mostly use Sawbonez when im on attackign team and Aura when defending. Then theres differences for various maps, some are better with Vassili, others with Nader.
Then theres teammates with their loadouts.
Those like 10 seconds given after map selection are enough to change one merc, but selecting all 3 is rather pushing it. Especially when theres several loadout cards for each merc present, each for each particular situation.
I dont get it in general. You get around 10 seconds to select loadout after map is chosen… and then players just wait for another 18 seconds till coundown runs down. A huge waste of time and poor design imo.
I havent seen a single game where all players would lock. Rather pointless feature that eats up time that could have been used with far greater efficiency.
What gets me is the ‘synchronising loadouts’ stage. It’s 20 seconds long, but if everyone locks in its instant. If they don’t lock in they can’t change their loadouts anyway, what takes 20 seconds?
I reckon it’s more time for the matchmaker to find players for the missing slots. I presume these are not shown graphically until all the handshaking has been completed, since it explains why a server listed as 8/12 often reports itself as full without visually showing more players.
That said, if the server is actually at capacity after the map selection, start the match right away please.
