REMAGEN ... soon to be released

In the last few weeks I’ve been working on a map called “Remagen”. It’s an original MoH|AA (Medal of Honor - Allied Assault) map … so im CONVERTING IT!! (greetz to our special-guests)

It will be Team-Deathmatch-Map … cuz im lovin’ em. If there is (m)any demand for an objective … then i will add one. Ok lets have a look what there will be in a few days/weeks (currently messing around to solve the fps-probs - ive got 125 - 200 … but my mates bitching about at 30-60 … so keep ya fingers crossed)

Looks nice, can’t wait for it to be out. How do you tell your FPS btw? Do you need to own your own server?

just load up the map on localhost as usual.
Then
/cg_drawfps 1
/com_maxfps 999

But this isn’t a very good value to go by since how the maps performs on your pc and how it performs on somebody elses are 2 different things.

You need to look at the tris with
/r_showtris 2
/r_speeds 4

I those are the commands, teh first shows you ingame what you computer is drawing atm, (which portals)
The second spams the console with stats about what you are currently looking at

Why do you need that to check the performance of a map?

well for me i have a better pc then 90% of the people I know, so when I am getting stable 125FPS on a map, it could be that some of my friends are strugging to get 50FPS

so what I am trying to say is that looking at your FPS can vary from PC to PC, so it’s not a very good indication.
While if you use the other method, it’s the same for everybody. Everybody will see that amount of tris, and it’'s how their pc handles it that differs. but less tris is then better

… cant see a good “obj” in it at the moment
… cuz its a very small map/area
… maybe something with truck/gold

Could be a king of the hill type of map.
You could have a look at Stonehenge.

A very simple objective like stealing gold would work in this map. Put the Gold in the building with the small fenced in yard. Add a truck to the road on the other side of the map to deliver it too. And a small satchel destructible to blow the door at the “bank”. Defenders would spawn on the backside of the “bank”. Attackers would spawn by the truck.

I toyed with the idea of connecting 2 or 3 of these maps together to make room for a tank escort map. But never had time to try it out.

How are you converting this map?
Remaking all the textures / sounds?

Seems like a lot of work!
