If you start quoting Wild-West style, at least pick your sources. Activision’s game calendar can be found here.
ET:QW is still listed under summer/fall.

Still listed. That was posted 31 May.
They had set for Q1 now it’s Q2 july-sept
cptincognito post is an Activision quote.
But as Gringo says Dont believe everything u read.
And none of Activisions dates have been right.
Maybe they should stick too when it’s done.
But maybe boardrooms can only understand and require dates.
It is great that SplashDamage has posted to clear this all up. It goes with the juvenile “it’s done when it’s done”, but hey let’s hype it up to the masses.
In an e-mail Wednesday from Activision they stated the stores received the due dates from Activision, no change.
News flash-
Quake Wars slips again
After years of uncertainty, Activision revises the next Enemy Territory’s ship window yet again.

During a conference call today, Activision revealed it now expects Enemy Territory: Quake Wars to ship during the July-September quarter, the second of its fiscal year. Though, like all id Software titles, its official release date is “when it’s done,” Activision had previously planned that it would come out by the end of June.
The slip was not totally unexpected, as online retailers such as GameStop.com now list Quake Wars as shipping in mid-July. Originally developed as a PC-only title, the oft-delayed game is now being ported to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Under id’s supervision, Splash Damage is developing the PC original, with Nerve Software and Z-Axis handling the 360 and PS3 versions, respectively.
In other id news, it was widely reported by many outlets–including GameSpot–today that the developer had revealed previously unknown game tech. This was based on Gamesindustry.biz coverage of a London event, where Todd Hollenshead has revealed that id’s next game, which was revealed in 2004, was based on an “all-new engine.” In fact, the game’s engine was first revealed last year–GameSpot regrets the error.
How many weeks ago was the pre-orders started? Think about it logicaly. From the time they started their pre-orders, they would have to have ordered all the packaging, scheduled production of burning the disks etc. etc. to meet their due date. It is now obvious they did none of that with the news of a new release date. So Activision, id and SplashDamage are just jerking everyone around. Very professional …
To be the devils advocate they really aren’t “jerking” you around they do the best with the information they have.
In all reality all they are doing is hurting themselves by pushing dates back closer they come to crysis the less “new” players they’ll reach. The only thing that really makes crysis too much of a threat will be the requirment of dx10 and high end machines.
On a side note, don’t take it so damn personally it’s not like they are lieing to you on purpose, you need to realize this is a buisness not a service.
Crysis is supposed to be dx9.
Think about, they did lie. No way they could give a retailer a 6/6 date when they had no production going. My background is in manufacturing and customer service. From a business standpoint, the performance and communication is not acceptable.
I don’t presume to know what conversations or contracts were sorted with the retailers but never once did i read anything official from any of Activision, Splash Damage or ID regarding a “concrete” release date (but i also haven’t read every single press release from them). This argument has been used so many times but it makes perfect sense, I’d rather it be released later with better performance/polish and less glitches and bugs than being released pre-emptively with numerous essential patches that need to go out days after release. Other games that pushed games out too early suffered the consquences of doing so dearly so personally i applaud them for not making the same mistake. Rest assured Activision, ID, and SD want to get paid too…if there’s no release there’s no money.
If you find it completely unacceptable then don’t purchase the game, don’t support a company or group of companies that you feel have wronged you. Doing otherwise would be a compromise of morals.
Everyone else is chomping at the bit for a release but flaming the companies developing and publishing the title is not going to make it happen any faster.
I don’t understand this. If the game was in beta begging of the year and playtested for several months and even the demo was planned, what could possibly be so wrong that they’d have to push the release all the way to august? I mean, is it possible that even after all this testing theres still so many bugs/ balance issues? What could it be?
It just takes a lot of time before tapirs are willing to cooperate. Look at the former Price of Peace mod team, for example.
The rumor going around is:
the PC version is done, in fact has been done for some time. They are waiting for the console versions to be completed and release them all at the same time.
if that was true that would be suicide as were gettin close to UT3 world
and if if it came out they would lose thousands of players…
Whoever is spreading that rumor has absolutely no clue about how this business works, and generally fails at basic economics and logical thought.
SD have confirmed they are ONLY doing the PC version. They are a PC development shop. For them to sit idle while other studios finish the the console ports would be a tremendous waste of money.Think for a moment about how much it costs to pay 30 peoples salaries for a few months, never mind the sales lost through delays. They have already stated that interoperability between the platforms isn’t a significant goal.
If the game was delayed (which is debatable, the release date has always been “when it’s done”, but the ATVI PR indicates an internal target has been missed), it was delayed because it wasn’t finished. There is no other explanation that makes any economic sense. To think that any publisher would sit on a completed game for another reason is just clueless.

Where? They just confirmed there are console versions being developed. I would love to see any “Official” SD announcements. Heresay and "it’s done when it’s done: is all they appear to be capable of.

Badman wrote that on the community forums, you can take our word for it. And btw I’m really fed up with this general attitude pc players have toward consoles. Just thinking of reasons to flame and argue, as if they are better than everyone who plays on consoles. imo so sad.
I challenge you on NBA live 06. 07 sucked, so we will use 06. I use Playstation controller connected to a PC, you use keyboard. Who is the winner now?
I guess the reason why they say PC’s are better than consoles, and also why they say PC vs PC is better than console vs console, is that they don’t even know how to use a controller. It takes different skills to use keyboard and controller.
I challange you to a game of Mr.DO on colicovision i will pwn ya consoles have there place but not here i say the game comes out sooner than later…lol
My god are people really hinging their existence on this game?
It’s what it seems like. Given id and affiliates’ attitudes on release dates, I’m really shocked this has become such an issue for you.
I’m sure they set some sort of deadlines on things, but they do realize deadlines should not compromise quality. Far too many companies view things just the opposite, though probably in an indirect manner (i.e. not putting quality ahead of their investors’ calls to finish a product on time). It’ll be done when it’s done, so to put it bluntly, just deal with it. There’s way more to life than a single specific video game.
